I noticed yesterday that the center stone was chipped on my e-ring. It was my grandmother''s and we never got it checked so I am now doubting it''s authenticity. Since we have a small budget I was wondering where I could find a lower cost sapphire? It can be man-made or heat treated. I have no personal preference.

Thanks in advance for an advice or help in the search!

Want to start with the color? Size? Budget? Shape?

FYI forum rules say that man-made stones aren''t to be discussed.

Is the center stone currently a sapphire? Sapphires, just like every other stone, do chip so I wouldn''t take that as an indicator that it is not real. Could you post a picture? I would love to see your grandmother''s ring.

Depending on the size of the chip you could have it polished out.

All stones can chip - even diamonds...
