One of my diamonds is chipped. How does that affect value? I can''t see the chip, it looks fine to me. Does anyone know? Thanks.
 
It would take an apprasier to answer your question with any accuracy.

Thanks for the response. I did take it to an appraiser, who noticed the chip, but still graded it an I1 with a value above 3K. So I guess it retained most of its value.
 
Run your finger nail around the girdle.
You can feel things that are hard to see with even a 10X loupe.
If the chip is in an exposed position - it could become a risk for future chipping - and sometimes it is agood idea to turn the stone so the chip is just very close to a prong. Only works for rounds though
