Gratuitous Dee shot here at the end!

Oh, DJ, how inspiring those signs are! I actually laughed out loud and my daughter asked me (from the other room) what was so funny! I must get a camera working so that I can go to a march next year and take pictures of all the signs. I used to photograph everything when I had one.

I have to go back over all of them. You did such a great job of capturing the whole mood. Thank you!!!

Deb :wavey:

DJ-I really loved the sign that had this picture on it. A Jabba-The-Hut and Princess Leia for our times. :))
Only the protestor's poster said, "Free Melania!".

I also loved the ones that said it was Mueller Time!

Fantastic photos Dee!!! Thanks for sharing! Especially the gratuitous Dee shot...that was my favorite.

So we actually got to join in some of the action this afternoon as we got to our concert early and the marching was happening right there when we got there so we joined and walked for a bit. The energy was high and it was exciting. I didn't take more than a couple of quick photos but here they are.

My favorite 2 signs that I saw the short time I was there.

A truly awe-inspiring day! Thank you so much for sharing these inspiring, heartening, and hilarious photos, DeeJay!! :P2 (The clever is strong in Chicago...such creative signs and costumes!)

RESIST!!

Good morning kids!

Anne, Deb, Missy, Kristy... :wavey: And everyone else out there!

Nala, how was your march?

Deb, thanks for posting that link. The pics are great!

Love the pics Missy, and thank you for putting them up!

Speaking of pics, I didn't realize how angry and militant my first pic (before I went out the door) was -- geez! Hand on hip (the only way I could get the T to show), resisting bitch face*... I swear, that was all a bit much, LOL. But I'm never very good at those self-pics in the mirror!

*I'm using Resisting Bitch Face from now on line lieu of Resting Bitch Face. Thank you to the lady with the pink sign!

I've been reading about the marches around the county and the multiple messages are interesting to me. The focus has certainly shifted away from Trump (a bit, although definitely not completely), but this year's march was much more about the things that are women focused: equal pay, equal rights, reproductive legislation, harassment, feminism in general. Probably more appropriate given that it WAS a women's march, and I was glad to see the pendulum swing back in that direction for this event. I was also happy to see SO MANY MEN in the crowd. SO MANY. Last year when the march rolled around (which I didn't go to thanks to an emergency in my building and I am the condo association president) the CB and I talked about it, and specifically about the male participation. His take on it was that he had a partner, and a daughter, and a mother, and a sister, and nieces, and friends, and coworkers who are all women, and how could he NOT be supportive of the concept of feminism? Hopefully some day they will all get there...

This is my fav of all time, so far. Our march drew 10,000 people which is an achievement down here. City population is just under 80,000. Our signs, however, lacked the imagination and humor of those I've seen elsewhere. No matter, the message was delivered.

HI:

Our cities drew thousands of marchers--small numbers by comparison to US cities--folks of all ages.

cheers--Sharon

Loving the pictures I'm seeing here and elsewhere. Getting a lot of laughs. Thanks for posting!

We had about 20k people in ours!! Very high energy and peaceful. Ty for asking.

This one is, I think, my favorite. It sounds almost Biblical to me. At first I thought it might be a quotation from The Bible. In my opinion, it is simply beautiful.

“I’m going to leave better humans behind. I want minorities to be treated as part of this country.”
Karla Reese, 32, left, from Brownsville, marched with her children, from center left, Marcus Reese, 4, César Bolaños, 14, Héctor Bolaños, 11, and Karla Bolaños, 16.

I took my daughter to our local march (along with my parents and BF). I really regretted not going last year so I made sure to make it happen this year. The weather was great and it was an awesome experience. I am not sure my daughter completely understands what it was about but it was important for her to see advocacy at work. My favorite sign was "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept."

I saw that (for the first time) this year and was also very drawn to it. I had never heard the saying before, but it was on signs at several different women's marches. I finally saw that it was attributed to Angela Davis. I do not know if the attribution was accurate.

Advocacy always is developed from anger. I know many people do not understand the purpose of these marches. People are angry and it was powerful to be in a crowd of 1500 people with similar views expressing their anger PEACEFULLY. I will not teach my daughter to be afraid of anger. I will not teach her to ignore her voice. If people aren't pissed, they aren't paying attention.

Yes a great experience for all the children and you are setting a wonderful example for your daughter.:appl:
And that's my favorite sign/quote from the march too! In fact I am applying it to everything in my life.:halo:
