channel set

hey guys, i have a question that might seem silly to you experts I am trying hard to find a band and setting i reallly like..i am (hopefully) getting a cushion cut diamond ..i would like the band to have diamonds on it...i have seen lots of channel setting...some i hate and some i love.,..are there different types? some seem to be really deep and some look more like a pave and.....is it just the jeweler, or are there differnt types??

I hope this image doesn''t come out ridiculously huge, or small! This gives a great illustration of channel setting. The stone is held in place by the metal on the top, not prongs.
