Hello!
Im having the hardest time nailing down a brand or jeweler that can give me the channel set eternity band I’m looking for. 3mm+ round in platinum. I think I may have found the one through Harry Winston or Tiffany but I hate to go with a big name when I’m sure there are amazing, more cost effective names out there.

Would you be so kind as to show me your channels, with specs? Size and TCW and what house/jeweler you recommend?

Thank you all!!

Hi @sammy1032 -

I dont have what you're looking for, but I'd suggest going custom to get exactly what you want. It's a very straight forward design and I'm sure someone like WhiteFlash could do it with branded diamonds, or David Klass Jewelry could do it with hand pick but uncerted stones, which would save you a bunch of money. If you wanted to go more upmarket, Victor Canera would also do a beautiful job or Brian Gavin Diamonds could also do it with signature cut stones.

My pick would be David Klass Jewelry, because I wouldn't feel the need for signature cut stones at that size, but I know David could get you some gorgeous diamonds (he's picked stones of a similar size for me to make cluster settings for my solitaire diamond earrings, and the diamonds were lovely) and because their prices are wonderful and they'll work with you to give you what you want.

Good luck!

is there something unusual about what you're looking for? If so, do you have a photo? If you're just looking for a channel set band for 3mm+ round stones in platinum, then I'd go with DK. And if there is something unusual that you want, I'd still send him a photo and see what he thinks about making it. You don't say if you want the jeweler to source the stones for you or not. So that may play into it as well.

You can also search for Tiffany channel set bands for resale on eBay, etc. if you don’t mind preloved, you can get these bands at a good price. Some of their 3mm channel set bands are no longer offered by sale by Tiffany but can be found on preloved sites. I have the 3mm channel set eternity band by Tiffany and I love their workmanship.

I have a channel set Tiffany eternity band and while it does sparkle, I was not happy with the $250 charge to replace one lost sapphire.

Beautiful! But am I seeing prongs? I thought channel set was the diamonds being solely held in place by the channels.

Nothing unusual. No need to outsource stones. I also may toy with using 12 of my grandmothers stones in the far future and have them set. Though that would be a pretty wide band. I just can’t seem to find anything I like that isn’t the typical high end or the big chain websites that’s reputable. I don’t need this to be a Cartier, Tiffany or HW but will go with that if this gets too hard. Haha.

Cartier doesn’t really make any channel to my knowledge anyway.

All channel set bands are not made the same. I looked at wedding bands for a long time and not just for channel set. However, I really didn't like the channel set bands I saw because of the space between diamonds, poor diamond quality or poor workmanship. Then I saw the one at Tiffany's and it was perfect! I am sure some of the aforementioned vendors will do a great job as well.

At this point I’m nearly certain I will go with a Tiffany platinum full circle 3mm band. Do you ever take yours off for food prep or certain chores? I’m already in the maniacal habit of wearing gloves during cleaning and gardening but I want my wedding band to stay on as much as possible. Which is why I’m drawn to channel set to begin with as the stones are supposed to be more secure in this setting.

Thanks!

I take all my jewelry off for cleaning every day. I don’t wear it to do housework or outside work. I have worn my Tiffany band every day for 14 years with no issues at all. However, I just don’t wear it to do heavy work. Gloves are a good idea but I seldom use them either - lol!

Love your band and ring combo! So classic.

Let me add that while Tiffany bands are gorgeous, they have for some bizarre reason decided not to offer quarter sizes. So if you are an even or half size, go for it, but if you’re a quarter size….nope.

Signed, a 6.75. Sigh.

Thanks! They do not offer half sizes sadly. I have sometimes seen things on eBay that they claim to be Tiffany but they maybe size 5.25. I always look at those as counterfeits!

I have seen those as well and it makes me give the listing the side eye.

Honestly, I find that sizing issue to be a bizarre issue for Tiffany. Other houses offer quarter sizes and it seems odd they don’t. They do it in bracelets as well. Cartier sizes by the centimeter and Tiffany has a S, M, L system.

So if you are a 5.75 you have to buy a 6? And if you are a 5.5, what are you supposed to do? That seems very strange. I guess I'll never buy a Tiffany band.

No, they have half sizes and whole sizes. It is the quarter sizes they don't have. So if you see a Tiffany preloved eternity ring with say size 5.25, you can pretty well assume it is fake as Tiffany has never sold quarter sizes. A solid band could have been resized but not an eternity band.

I’m thankfully a 5.5 but for those with true quarter sizes or want a different fit do you think those little sizing beads could be soldered on?

Thanks for the clarification. In your post you had said

You probably just mean quarter sizes which is what confused me. Funny though, I'm a 5.75 because I need that to get over my knuckles. My finger is probably more like a 5.25 or 5.5. So going to a 6 is too big and a 5.5 won't go over my knuckles. I do have a few 6's with sizing cushions, but mainly because my fingers have gotten a bit smaller so I had them added to existing rings. I don't think I'd buy a Tiffany ring at their price point if it wasn't the size I needed without adding the beads.

Yes, definitely an error on my part - sorry! I totally agree - I wouldn’t buy from them either if the ring didn’t fit. Too much of an investment to have to make allowances for fit. My ering is actually a 5.25 and the band 5.5. The larger band helps ground the ering though and keeps it from spinning. That’s why I would be very hesitant to change up my rings as these just work together well.

Is your Tiffany channel band ideal cut? I believe Tiffany’s does a different grading?
I’m also looking at the Harry Winston channel eternity but unsure of the sparkle. That’s what I’m down to now…sparkle factor

No, it was not marketed as ideal cut. In most diamond wedding bands, unless they have larger than .30 stones in them, they won't be graded. The diamonds are small but certainly sparkle!

This is the exact reason why I went with a plain wedding ring, as my intention was to never have to remove it & 17 years later, that band reflects a LOT of life & love. Mr T suggested to buy the full eternity once our family was complete & 2 swift years with 2 children later, I got the ring. I do remove it to lotion & do really dirty jobs, but I literally wear it all day every day & it still looks beautiful. When we are away or I am being lazy, I leave it on 24/7. It’s very sturdy, but obviously you need to be more conscious of diamonds & settings that are hard to clean. I hate dirty diamonds!

I’m really looking forward to seeing what you find that works for your style & your life! Exciting times!
