changing diamond head

Would it be possible to change the head in a stock setting (probably cast as one piece) to make the diamond sit higher? This is a Harry Winston style, center diamond with a baguette on each side. It looks like everything is soldered together, rather than a typical head which sits in a setting.....The diamond sits rather low and kind of gets lost....would like to see it higher without too much expense or change for sentimental reasons.....Don''t want to change the setting.....and don''t have a photo to show you, but was thinking of finding a good benchman.....ring is 18K white gold.

I think finding a good benchman and asking him/her would be your best bet

Yes, was just referred to one and by phone he thinks it is quite doable. I will see him next week and find out....
