Changeable pendants/necklaces

I have a few loose CS and diamonds that I’ve thought about having made into pendants over time; however, I don’t like the idea of having to attach a separate necklace to each one, and I’d like (if possible) to avoid having plain ‘ol bails on them.

I had an idea of somehow having small/tiny clasps (maybe something like a lobster clasp but smaller/simpler) on each end of one necklace that could attach to the ends of the pendants (e.g., if it was a horizontal bar type or three horizontal stone configuration pendant). That way I can just swap out pendants when I want with one necklace or two necklaces (e.g., white and yellow metals).

Does this sound crazy? Does anyone have or have seen something like this before? I have no idea what to call it to search.

To further illustrate - I think what I’m looking to do is have something like this, where the piece on the left would be on each pendant (or one on each end of the pendant if horizontal bar style), and the piece on the right would be on both ends of the chain/necklace.

I went through exactly the same thought process as you a few months ago. I wanted to build up a wardrobe of pendants over time, to attach to one or two ‘core’ chains. I spoke to Caysie about a couple of ideas but things petered out and I haven’t picked back up again.

I think I recently saw a similar idea to yours , maybe on a Single Stone necklace? I’ll see if I can find a pic.

I love theses ideas. So resourceful, those PSers!!
The pendant above is larger than you are working, but I have a folder of ideas to make my pearl strands more varied--this pearl strand has identical hooks on each end and the pendant has a pair of jump rings on the back to attach to the hooks, or the pendant can be removed and worn on a different necklace such as a fine chain, or an omega /snake chain or even a ribbon; all these would go through the small hidden bail at the top of the pendant. I haven't done it for all the usual reasons.

They do make bails that open and lock closed so you can put them on different chains...here are a few from stuller. Look at the side views.

I DO like the idea of having the flexibility to add a couple of like-set pendants to a chain, or just one when I want to so I can mix things up, so that necklace Is GREAT inspiration! Thank you!

Thank you for the ideas & suggestions, @Maja & @tyty333 My hope is to keep whatever ‘connectors’ I go with as simple as possible so that there is as much flexibility in use/wear as possible, so these are great ideas!
