I was thinking about possibly switching the diamonds from my wedding set (G-H colored) small diamonds)
to D colored excellent full cut diamonds. (My wedding set is my Icon to the Left)

These diamonds are small, .05mm. and center is about .15mm.

I would guess that the price might be around $1000?? to do this and not sure if
I will get the icy white look I'm going for or not......

Can you take my poll to help me decide?

Is your center stone a D?
The melee should be close in color to your center stone, otherwise it may make your center stone look dull. (Says Leon M)

Scintillating...

saw this topic and was nnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooo I.W.D is back.
The with further review ... whew....
not her.

to answer your question:
no its not worth doing.

not worth it...!

LOL strm re WD...I know I thought the same thing at first! ICY WHITE!

oh and scint i have to disagree hugely with Leon M on that comment because my center stone is a J and my melee range between E and G and my center stone could never be called DULL. in fact this J is the best looking stone i have had so far, better looking than my G or my H and i don't see any difference in the melee vs center stone with naked eye, the melee are so small.

Strm and Mara, I was curious about WD so I did a little research . All I can say is "OH"!!!

BTW, I agree on not replacing the stones.

Nope, I totally wouldn''t do it. In fact, I prefer lower color grades because they represent such great value for the $$$!

I agree with the no crowd..

maybe this is a dumb question but do they even cut melee in "d" color?

I voted no as well. Leave it be.

If you want to switch something, maybe get a higher quality cut (or bigger size) in your center stone. The color you have now is already really nice.

I absolutely adore the icy white of a D stone, but I don''t think it''s a good idea to change out your wedding set stones. The difference from D to G-H would be minimal, especially on such small stones. I think it would be a complete waste of money.

YIKES ICY WHITE AND A POLL

Not WD thankfully - I digress Jewelgal, to answer your question it''s not worth it - you would never see a difference.

I really don''t think you could tell any difference in such tiny diamonds either- totally not worth the hassle!

It looks from the pictures that your rings are yellow gold. Maybe white gold or platinum would emphasize the "whiteness" of your stones more?

I see that you say you were thinking of changing to D color "full cut" diamonds.

Are the stones in your ring now full cuts? If they are single cuts, then yes, I think you would see a difference with full cuts, especially ideal cuts.

As for switching out just to go up a bit on color, no, it would not be worth it.

Here at Pricescope, it''s all about the CUT!

My center stone is a D and all the melee in the halo and the bands are F/G...they are so small - there is no perceptible color difference whatsoever. I've never seen melee in a D color grade and don't think it would be worth the money when a few steps lower in color look the same.

Now that you know most people think it is not worth the money, you may not see the difference, and Ds that small may be hard to find. . .

if you still just want the Ds, I say go for it.

If it is important to YOU, and worth the expense to YOU then you don''t need our approval.

Diamonds are very personal.

Thank you all so much! This forum is superb! I guess it would be foolish to switch them out. They sparkle very nicely in most lighting. I am very happy with the set. I suppose as you get older, you like to change things a bit. Will keep you posted!
