Certifying diamond

I am new here and to diamonds. i am thinking of buying my girlfriend a solitaire and have a question for you guys. How much will it cost me to have a diamond that i buy certified by a AGS or major certifier such as them? Basically my sister spent 3500 one year ago at Brodkey''s jewelers in Iowa on a 3stone ring middle is 1/2carat and 2 1/4''s. I want to buy the diamonds and reset them but she didnt get a clarity, color or any of that rating nor a booklet with a cert or anything....so if i were to set it and send it off or have a jeweler send it off to a AGS EGL certifier how much $$$ will it cost me???? thanks guys

All you need is one of the appraisers in the list in the upper right on this page.

Unless you're looking for the high degree of credibility that an AGS or GIA report carries, it would probably be more cost effective to have the diamonds appraised by an independent or objective appraiser.

In addition, the appraiser would give you a value you could use for insurance purposes, as well as photos, which neither the AGS or GIA supplies.

Depending on the appraiser, and the quality of report they issue, the charge to appraise those three diamonds would probably range from $90 to $125, or thereabouts.
