i know GIA is the more comonly known certification, is there really a big difference if the diamond is EDl (i think that was teh other one) my friend showed me an EDL diamond right alongside a GIA diamond and i actually thought that the EDL looked better...any input is appreciated

I think that your referring to EGL. While sticking with GIA will be the common advice, sometimes you can get a better price when considering EGL graded diamonds. Just make sure that you check the diamond out and have the EGL report matched up with the diamond. You always want to be aware of any conflictions. EGL is a widely known labratory though. going with the EGL diamond will end up saving about $1200 dollars and the diamond was beautiful, thanks for the response...
