Defintely, for a ring. Without certificate or any cut dimensions (such as Sarin report) and/or IS/ASET, there is no guarantee what the cut is. Of course, if I can see the stones in person, I can do without any cert, Sarin, IS/ASET. All I need to do is to compare the stones with my ACA''s and use my own IS/ASET scopes.Date: 4/13/2010 1:02:50 PM

Generally speaking, for a three stone ring, if you were getting sides in the .33ct range, would you hunt down certed and upgradable stones, or would you be happy with BGD signature mellee (or WF ACA, just for completeness for future readers)?![]()
We are talking about BGD signature melee, they don''t come with sarins but they are cut to the same tight specs as ACAs.Date: 4/13/2010 1:19:34 PM

Yes, definitely with larger stones I would want a cert for sure. I am just a little ambivalent with smaller stones. But perhaps the ability to upgrade is worth the time and expense of the certed stones?Date: 4/13/2010 1:31:06 PM

Thanks for the clarification.
If it BGD cut melees, then I say yes - do without any cert.
If, on the other hand, the sidestones are bigger, say 0.7-ct or higher, then I would get cert or at least request Sarin report from Brian (even for extra resoanble cost).
For for 0.33-ct, I would not bother paying extra for the upgrade option. If I want bigger ACA''s, I''ll purchase new ones. I shall keep the 0.33-ct stones, because I can always find new ways to use them.Date: 4/13/2010 1:40:17 PM
