I went to a wedding where they did that. After the ceremony they closed the doors, had the cocktail hour in a different room, and then brought us into the original room that was changed into the reception area. It was beautiful!
I went to a wedding like that. They closed the doors for the ceremony. It was beautifully decorated, and they had a sort of arbor with chairs, and mini -aisle defined by a white runner. It wasn''t weird at all.
I have the ceremony in the main hall - then guests have cocktail hour outside on the terrace, then go through the hall to the library for the meal and back into the main hall for the evening.
My friend had sent everyone downstairs to the terrace after the ceremony while we set up tables and decor for the reception. Not weird, just a quick change!
I''ve been to a wedding like that and if it rains on our wedding day, ours will need to be like that as well. It wasn''t awkward at all. After the ceremony, the cocktail hour was in one part of the room and they set up for the reception in the other part.
I''ve been to a few weddings like that and my wedding in October will be that way! The ceremony will be upstairs, then downstairs for cocktail hour and back up for the reception. Our sweetheart table will actually be under the chuppah from the ceremony.
