SO and I are having his best friend marry us and we are writing our own ceremony. I really love what we've got for the ceremony but I am having a hard time with the "Groom, do you take _____ as your wife...." part. AKA: the declaration of intent. Its just wordy and doesnt seem to flow well. We are also doing repeat after me non traditional vows after that part.

Here is what I have.

Groom, do you take antiquesparkler to be the person with whom you will share your life with? Will you be her friend and partner, honoring, supporting, and loving her, through all the joys and challenges you may face, individually and together, now and forever?

I am also posting our vows so you can see the flow.

I, Groom
Take you, antiquesparkler
To be my wife.
I vow to help you love life.
To always hold you with tenderness.
To have the patience that love demands.
To speak when words are needed.
To share in the silence when they are not.
To never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love.
And to live within the warmth of your heart.
And always call it home.

Any suggestions would be lovely.
