How much over RAP is a Celebration 102 diamond? In doing an appraisal I found that I am not meeting the sale price of Zales. Also, they give a 2.98 carat round diamond the same price as a 3.07 carat round diamond. Not sure how they get away with that.

Rap doesn't list specialty cuts, but Rap is largely irrelevant for appraisals anyway.

Zales can charge whatever they want, just like you can. Assuming you're appraising for replacement value, the question is how much Zales will charge to replace it, right? It can't be replaced anywhere else.

Shopping at Zales is for suckers only...Don't waste your money!...:wall:

You can use your receipt for the insurance company "cost value."

But yah, zales and the like are overpriced for the quality (and under quality for the price).

Just curious how you price diamonds if RAP is irrelevant?

Look for comps in the relevant market. Look for comps at a wholesale market that supplies the one you're trying to describe. Rapnet is much more useful than the Rap sheets. Polygon is useful. The database here is useful. For things like you're asking here, call Zales. They're actually quite cooperative.
