Hope all is well with everyone! Just want to ask a simple question. What's this (see arrow)? Thank you in advance for any response!

You will probably get more feedback if you provide a little more context. Since this is a channel devoted to diamond discussion, is it a magnified image of a diamond? If a colored stone, there is another channel for that. How magnified is the image? Any other background would also be helpful.

Many people here enjoy cool things related to gemstones, so on the right channel you will most likely get some answers. Or at least some good guesses!

Looks a bit like a flourite specimen to me. The bright purple druzy area that the arrow is pointing to could just be a section of the crystal that fractured rather than cleaved.

If that turns out to be completely false, we can just call it 'alternative facts'. :twirl:

Fluorite Specimen

Just to show my guess was not completely without basis :)

Thank you for the response!

It's not fluorite. It's a diamond. I'm just curious about the specific inclusion (arrow). In addition, it's not a fracture.

Is it a magnified internal photo of a polished diamond? If so, at what power? Is is a colored diamond? Treated? Is there a lab report on it?

Yes, it's an internal photo of a polished diamond. Yes, it's a CD and untreated. Thank you for your help!

Was the photo taken through a microscope? If so, at what power? Since you know it's an untreated colored diamond you must have a lab grading report. What are the details?

Just a picture taken with a high quality camera...In the near future, I intend to submit it for a report. I'm just curious about the inclusion. Nothing more.

Below is a full image. Thanks!

If you have a strong reason to believe that it is a natural fancy color diamond, you should definitely send it to the lab.

I must say that I would be very surprised if it turned out to be so. But what a nice surprise it would be!

Judging strictly by appearance in the full photo, it looks more like a spinel or sapphire.

It's not spinel or pink sapphire. It's tested as diamond.

What tests were done and by whom?

The stone has confirmed to be a diamond. However, I will not release any further information. I also know a bit about diamond. I'm not asking to identify the stone but if anyone can recognize the inclusion.

I've never seen anything like that in a diamond. You've got yourself a real rarity there.

Perhaps clouds or a type plastic deformation of the diamond crystalline lattice

Yes, I still need help to fully identify the subject in the first photo.
