Cathedral shoulder types - difference in wear?

I've slowly started planning my reset, and I'm pretty sure I want a cathedral setting vs what I currently have (the standard Stuller 6 prong with a thin shank). However, I noticed that there were two kinds of cathedral shoulders, and I was wondering if it was just aesthetic or there was any difference in wear - is one more comfortable than the other? Does any option spin less? Do they look similar face up?

Here's the difference I'm talking about:

One option seems to follow the line and curve of the shank, while the other curves the other way. Convex and concave?

That is aesthetic. Choose whichever you prefer. I strongly prefer the one on the right.

Spinning is dependent on whether the ring is too big or not. Some people have to have rings sized larger because of their knuckles, so the rings are loose once on the lower part of their finger.

I can't imagine concave vs. convex shoulders makes any practical difference re. durability/wear & tear so long as the rings themselves are well-designed and well-made! Of those two examples I too much prefer the one on the right.

Thank you so much!
The reason I ask about spinning is that I am one of those "lucky" large knuckle people, and I was wondering if the one on the left would have the weight more evenly distributed (and therefore be less top heavy) than the one on the right.

I'll be the dissenter - I like the one on the left...

Have you considered a euroshank? Or sizing beads?

Great to have a variety of opinions. :) I think I'd lean towards the one on the left as well, but I'm worried there's something I'm not seeing about it, since you do see much more of the kind on the right.

I will most likely be doing sizing beads, however my fingers also tend to swell quite a bit in the summer, so I'm not sure it will be all that effective... Euroshank probably isn't in the budget (the ones I've seen have been quite a bit more expensive than the regular comfort fit shank), but I've also read about a horseshoe sizer and will be looking into that as well closer to the day I can actually afford all of this.

Once you add a wedding band, the spinning will be reduced...it won't be entirely gone, though. I have the knuckle issue, too, and even sizing my ring down to a 4.75 (barely making it over my knuckle) still meant it spun like crazy by itself. It's going to be reset and the gal and the jewelers suggested euroshank, as well, but I don't like the look of that.

That is so good to hear! Right now it's cold, so I'm really wishing I had gotten the ring at least a 1/4 size smaller, as the spinning is out of control. On the other hand during the warmer months I definitely get ring claustrophobia and several times I thought I should have gone up in size! Gah, you just can't win.
Although the spinning is actually less annoying than the flipping up and down which is one of the main reasons I want a reset! Hopefully that can be fixed with a better setting.
