Hello all,
I was at a jewelery store yesterday, and my friend was trying to explain what kind of band she would like to go with her e-ring. She wants "pave, but not in a chanel". I said "like a fishtail pave", and the salesman said that "fishtail pave is actually a prong setting". I thought there was a difference between the two. Am I incorrect? Exactly what IS the difference? Thanks for the help.

Fishtail is held in place by prongs (or teensy beads to be exact), yeah. But it has little V shaped cut-outs between each stone to minimize the look of metal. So, fishtail is always bead set but bead set isn't always fishtail, if you follow that logic twist.

Got it, thanks.
