Me and my boyfriend of almost 7.5 years have been looking at engagement rings since December.
I know exactly what I like and do not like. I want an infinity band (twisting split shanks) with a halo setting.. and this Vera Wang is perfect, minus the sapphires and how high the setting is.

Here it is.. http://www.peoplesjewellers.com/product/index.jsp?productId=30452516

I can't keep going back to this ring which is $3000 CDN, but I do not want my boyfriend to pay for a crappy diamond just because it has her name attached to it.

Both of us have no clue about how to pick a ring, I just know I like this exact band and square halo with a lower setting. Preferably .9-1 Ct.

Being in Canada... where do we even begin to look at rings without getting ripped off.

Total weight .9-1 ct.
After all we're 24... and budget preferably between $3000-4000 CDN

I think the Gabriel settings look just as good, to be honest, and you could pick a better quality center stone. (If those settings can be made for the size diamond you want.)

And those Gabriel listed prices are higher than you'll pay -- IDJ has come back with prices for me like $500-600 lower than what's listed on those pages, so keep that in mind. It means more money for a bigger center stone, or anything else you'd like to allocate funds to.

These diamonds are not good quality. If you really want it, you can buy it on ebay for around $1000 to $1500.

Okay, well with that budget you will have to spend at least half of it on the setting. If you want that setting, there's no escaping that. If you are able to find a setting for about $2000 (this is USD, I guess it's slightly higher in CDN?), you should have enough for about a half-carat diamond (if you are getting a princess cut). I would either contact IDJewelry (if you are willing to buy online/over phone) and see if the Gabriel&Co setting can be customized for a smaller stone, or email Gabriel&Co to find a local retailer who carries their settings and ask them about it. I couldn't find other stock settings with both a crossover and halo, at a price I consider reasonable, with a quality I personally would accept. But I just checked the places I could think of.
