Another option is, do white gold setting with platinum prongs. Jewelers can do that.

if it was me i'll go PT.

For rings, I choose PT. $400 difference is very good. Used to pay $800-$1000 more.

My wedding set from BGD is plat. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It was a very hard decision for me as well. I'm so glad I chose plat. Honestly if the ring has good finger coverage, the only part of the metal you really see is the bottom of the shank. Yes it scratches and patinas. But honestly so does my WG rings. I cannot STAND the yellow color of WG once the plating wears off. I'd rather send mine in for a rebuff once a year than a replating every 6 months. BGD uses a great plat alloy. The price difference is MUCH less than other vendors. So splurge for the plat. If this is a piece to wear daily for life you won't regret it.
