I had my heart on putting my round .59 diamond in a bezel setting. I found one I like at Excel but I was concerned about the stone being too small for the settting. I emailed Barry at Excel and he agreed that a 4 prong or tension set would be the best thing.

I wanted a more "active" setting so I am asking of any one has any ideas? What about split shank?

Thank you for your input!

would you want to go custom? If you want a bezel, then I would suggest you get what your hearts desire.

If you want a bezel I would get a bezel. Find someone who can do it on a .59 stone.

Yep, I agree. I don't see how he can say that size is too small to bezel, when people have gotten studs much smaller bezeled.

I'd contact BGD for a quote.

Here's a thread with some of their (reasonably priced) work.

Thank you for the responses

I will keep looking into getting one, and better yet custom a better idea. I love the bezel it is my favorite.

I bet he just meant that the diamond wouldn''t fit in the particular setting you picked, not that you couldn''t use a bezel if you chose a setting of the appropriate size.

Go with the bezel if that is what you want. Try to get one with a wall that isn''t too thick. This will keep from overpowering the stone. Also, whatever you decide, get the ring insured. You can''t replace the sentimental value but you can prevent a financial loss.

+1, any size diamond could be bezeled. If it''s what you love, get it! Other designers to add to BGD to check out:
James Meyer makes beautiful hand made bezels, very delicate!
Jim''s son Caleb Meyer, also beautiful!
Cross Jewelers Active Wear Bezels
Etienne Perret bezels
Knox Jewlers Contemporary Collection has some nice bezel options too!

Hope these help!

Thank you for the valuable information! I am going to see if I can find a smaller style that will fit nice with my size diamond, I don''t care for the heavier thick bezels any way. The one I was looking at was more a cathedral set almost in the way it looked the bezel sat above the ring it was pretty and smaller mm band .

Tyty- I don''t remember, I saved this picture over a year ago before I joined PS, but I found it somewhere on here while searching, but I don''t know how to get to it again it was buried in other threads.

Yes! That is about 90% exact duplicate! Wow... you''re a good mind reader!

What about Cross Jewelers in Maine? They have a lovely selection of bezel and settings for active wearers, and will set your own stone.

I pour over their settings often!
