A few of you may remember my posts about choosing a CER/CAC by Victor Canera for an e-ring weeks ago. I finally chose the CER1.098ct F VS1! Victor as many of you know, was very helpful and always answered my emails promptly. Shipping speed was awesome (it traveled half the globe and arrived at my door in 4 days) and no extra charge for international priority shipping. I'd requested the IS and ASET printouts so that I could use them to educate my to-be finance and Victor had no problem compiling a PDF of these images for me. As a first time diamond buyer, this was a smooth and pleasant online experience.

It's arrived for more than 2 weeks and I finally got to take it to the garden and let it see some sun! I'd been staring at it everyday and only today I realized how amazing it looked outdoor. The CER is really something else after looking at many RBs in the stores. To be honest, although I had full confidence in Victor Canera's inventory (after reading so much online) I kept thinking if I should have spent the money on a larger RB like a 1.5ct for the spread. My GF surely has no idea about OECs and never ever seen one so I was a little afraid that when she sees a CER she may not perceive the beauty of it right away. Now, after seeing it in the sun myself I have no more doubts that she will appreciate its unique beauty. OECs are not very well known by most consumers and even jewelers where I am from and I want my GF to have something very unique. I think this CER does it!

The facets and scintillation are so mesmerizing! To newbies like myself on PS, these new cut OECs cost quite a bit more compared to a RBs of similar specs but if you are considering something different for your intended I'd suggest you to give them some thoughts. I'd describe RBs' scintillation as more "frequent" and splintered while OECs have larger "colorful flashes". And if you have a larger budget than I had, I'd even recommend CERs that are over 1.4ct because their flowery facet patterns should be even more obvious.

Okay you want to know what setting I will choose. Regarding this I want to be frank, that I was always going to set it locally (not in the US) because it is just so much cheaper here. I'd already spent some extra money on this CER instead of another cheaper one so I can't really afford a setting by Victor. There are a few settings I found on his website and I think I really like this one on my to-be finance (https://www.victorcanera.com/rings/engagement/the-evelyn-with-open-profile). It maybe frowned upon by some people here if I copy this setting by Victor but I think it is perfect for her. I will speak to the local jeweler and see.

I tried to use my Sony mirrorless DSLR but since I don't have a macro lens the photos were rather dull. These were taken on my iPhone which aren't bad I think. I think I am a size 9 by the way.

It looks gorgeous! Your fiancée will surely love it
Please don't do an exact copy of Victor's design - inspired by is one thing but taking his intellectual property is a poor way to repay Victor's help and patience in getting you this beautiful stone.

What an amazing stone! You have made a great choice!!
I agree with not copying Victor's design.

Lovely :)

I have only ever seen one old-style diamond in a shop window in the UK, they are most uncommon, sadly! I'm sure your other half will love it :)

Work out what elements of the ring design appeal to you and ask your jeweller to design something that references them in your own individual way, perhaps.

I have been pleased with Durrants, just off Hatton Garden, and their ability to interpret my design thoughts, but I appreciate London might not be local.

Make sure you have the stone insured (it may need to be a named item on your house insurance) and check (get in writing...) that it is insured by the jeweller during setting. Get them to check and write the grading report number inscription on the work slip / receipt, perhaps.

Gorgeous!

IMG_3404.JPG IMG_3405.JPG IMG_3406.JPG +1: please make sure the jeweller shows you examples of his work prior to handing over your stone. This will prevent disappointments. Most local jewellers will not be able to create rings with the top notch quality Victor offers.

Are you located in Australia? I can recommend Alistair Kelsey. Here are some examples of his work. Like any good jeweller he will not copy work from another jeweller, but will create a ring especially for you, based on your preferences.

You could also ask Victor for a quote of a beautiful solitaire as you will get some discount because you bought the stone via him.

Congratulations!! It is wonderful that you are completely assured of the uniqueness and quality of your CER purchase. His stones are THAT mesmerizing and amazing. I am sure your fiancé will find that you made the perfect choice.

Beautiful!!! Nice choice!

Very lovely:love:

Your CER is amazing and I know your fiancée will love it!! Victor's diamonds are incredible and you made a wonderful and timeless choice. Congrats!!

A gorgeous stone and stunning choice!!! She is a lucky lady!:love::love:

If you are an Aussie settings are way cheaper in the US than here of a decent quality the stuff that is cheap in Australia is mass produced stock settings manufactured in Asia and they just set the stone and adjust the sizes here.

Congrats on buying a beautiful stone.
