A few of you may remember my posts about choosing a CER/CAC by Victor Canera for an e-ring weeks ago. I finally chose the CER1.098ct F VS1! Victor as many of you know, was very helpful and always answered my emails promptly. Shipping speed was awesome (it traveled half the globe and arrived at my door in 4 days) and no extra charge for international priority shipping. I'd requested the IS and ASET printouts so that I could use them to educate my to-be finance and Victor had no problem compiling a PDF of these images for me. As a first time diamond buyer, this was a smooth and pleasant online experience.
It's arrived for more than 2 weeks and I finally got to take it to the garden and let it see some sun! I'd been staring at it everyday and only today I realized how amazing it looked outdoor. The CER is really something else after looking at many RBs in the stores. To be honest, although I had full confidence in Victor Canera's inventory (after reading so much online) I kept thinking if I should have spent the money on a larger RB like a 1.5ct for the spread. My GF surely has no idea about OECs and never ever seen one so I was a little afraid that when she sees a CER she may not perceive the beauty of it right away. Now, after seeing it in the sun myself I have no more doubts that she will appreciate its unique beauty. OECs are not very well known by most consumers and even jewelers where I am from and I want my GF to have something very unique. I think this CER does it!
The facets and scintillation are so mesmerizing! To newbies like myself on PS, these new cut OECs cost quite a bit more compared to a RBs of similar specs but if you are considering something different for your intended I'd suggest you to give them some thoughts. I'd describe RBs' scintillation as more "frequent" and splintered while OECs have larger "colorful flashes". And if you have a larger budget than I had, I'd even recommend CERs that are over 1.4ct because their flowery facet patterns should be even more obvious.
Okay you want to know what setting I will choose. Regarding this I want to be frank, that I was always going to set it locally (not in the US) because it is just so much cheaper here. I'd already spent some extra money on this CER instead of another cheaper one so I can't really afford a setting by Victor. There are a few settings I found on his website and I think I really like this one on my to-be finance (https://www.victorcanera.com/rings/engagement/the-evelyn-with-open-profile). It maybe frowned upon by some people here if I copy this setting by Victor but I think it is perfect for her. I will speak to the local jeweler and see.
I tried to use my Sony mirrorless DSLR but since I don't have a macro lens the photos were rather dull. These were taken on my iPhone which aren't bad I think. I think I am a size 9 by the way.
