I have a feeling that my e-ring and w-band are almost ready (stone is from GOG, was sent directly to our jeweler in California, to be sent eventually to my boyfriend here in Canada so that he can finally propose, arggggh!! hehe.)
Anyway! I was involved in the process up until all the final decisions were made, and then I said I wanted nothing to do with it and didn''t want to know when it was done or being shipped, etc. I really want it to come as a surprise. Well, can you tell I''m getting antsy?? I had the WORST NIGHTMARE last night...
I thought I would share the best parts:
-the e-ring and w-band were welded together already
-neither looked anything like the pictures
-the pave on the e-ring looked like dirty sand. Some was sparkly white, other diamonds were dark brown; some black.
-the center stone (supposed to be .74 c) looked to be about .1 c, and I kept crying "This isn''t 5.85 mm across, it can''t be!!"
-but then I realized that there were "two" center stones. One that was flush with the band and one that was set EXTREMELY high up over and above it (I had been looking in the "good, bad, and the ugly" thread in SMTR the other day, and there''s one there with a tiny stone set really high, and I''m sure that''s where this image came from). At this point I realized that my ring looked like something from outer space so I sat down with the jeweler, who magically appeared before me.
-She brought out the GIA report and showed me that my paperwork "clearly indicates that the diamond would come in two pieces." And the diagram showed essentially a normal looking diamond, and then another disc-like slice with it''s own measurements and inclusions. The disc-like one was the one that was set flush with the band.
-Oh, and this stone it wasn''t even round. It was square like an asscher (which was what I originally wanted for my e-ring until I chose my setting, which suits a RB better)....so the center was this miniscule square and then there were larger round-cuts beside it, and as noted, the sandy looking pave.
I think I was only justified in going back to sleep for 2 hours to shake off this one!!
