Can you see the difference?

From all that I have read, I suspect that one would have to be an expext to visually see the difference. But I would like for the experts to way in on which would be a better choice. Diamond 2 is approx a $100 more.

I would pay the extra $100 for #2 mostly because of the medium blue flouro of diamond #1

on paper, there''s not much of a difference in those two. minor facets and optical symmetry could make a discernable visual difference though.

They are sooooooo close, unless you were comparing the 2 right smack next to each other, you would not see a difference. Personally, I love fluorescence, so that would be a plus for the first one. Also, diamond #1 has excellent symmetry and cost $100 less. My choice might be #1, but honestly, based on the info you have, we are splitting hairs.

Can you get these stones called in by a jeweler and look at them side by side in person? They both look nice. How do you feel about fluoresence might be the real question here--I personally like nice blue fluoresence.

I did not know that, Wren. Unfortunately, fluroescence gets such a bad wrap around here that people seem to avoid it like plague.

Give it 10 years, preferences will change, and there will be premium on fluorescent stones.

DL, what would make you say that? I''ve never heard anything on PS other than positive comments about fluor, and several folks here have said they actually PREFER fluor and wouldn''t buy a stone without it.

I know that fluor. can be misperceived in the general marketplace, but I''ve *never* seen that to be true here on PS? What have you seen here that I''m missing?

Sooooooo close the only way know which one is best for you is to see them side by side. Regarding fluorescence, I''ve read several comments on many websites that it may make a slightly colored diamonds appear whiter. Your two selections are already colorless (E''s) to begin with. Nonetheless, I purchased an F with "very strong fluorescence" and it''s a dazzling white, like nothing I''ve ever seen.

Do you have sarin(the numbers entered into the hca) data or IS images?

.6 on the hca can indicate a problem but not always, the crown and pavilion angle would be needed to know.
Some IS images would be nice to compare the optical symmetry and light return.

Question, Where did you get the cut advisor scores? Do you have more information on these stones?
The info you've posted is not enough to get a Holloway Cut Advisor score, you need crown and pavillion angle %s.

As Storm askes, do you have a sarin (the numbers entered into the hca) data or IS images?

Also, where did you get the information that these are ideal? From the cert? From the vendor?
