I saw a diamond engagement ring at SAMs club, that I really liked the style of. It was a cathedral 4 prong setting, BUT inside the prongs was a round diamond covered bezel that actually held the diamond. The affect was the look of a whopping big diamond. So the prongs were actually hoding the bezel, giving more of an appearance of a solitare rather than a halo. I''ve never seen this type of setting before. From the side angle the ring looked like a typical solitare setting, all the diamonds were flush with the prongs. The center diamond did not sit up above the halo like most rings I have seen. The diamond that was set was only .70 and looked as big (ACTUALLY BIGGER) Tthan my 1.63 solitaire. I''ve looked all over and can''t find anything like it. I REALLY liked this ring, but don''t want to buy it from Sams.... Oh yeah I looked and it wasn''t on their website so I can''t use that as a reference.

I know this isn''t a bezel set diamond, but are you talking about something somewhat similar to this?

Sounds like you had an illusion setting based on what you said (I could be wrong). They were rather popular with vintage pieces which is what that setting is based on. Again I know it isn''t bezel set, but if you remove the prongs on the stone and pretend it is bezel would that be kind of close?

The illusion setting looks like the closest. I''m going to try to go back this weekend and look at the ring and take some pics if they will let me. Thanks for helping.
