Hello,
I have made the decision to start looking for a e-ring. I have been lurking around here as a guest for the last few weeks to educate myself as much as I possible about diamonds, settings, and preferred vendors. I am definitely on board with the majority of posters view that cut is king and I have taken that into account when looking at possible loose diamonds. However, I am not sure I am proficient on the detailed images forum members use to judge how it will play in light. I am hoping that with your advanced knowledge you can help me find the right stone above and beyond just the 4 Cs.
I know she wants a princess cut with a halo setting. I know this because at Costco I made a comment about a new TV and she walked over to the jewelry counter and said, "wouldn't you rather buy one of these instead?" So I played along and I asked which one would you wanted and she said this one would be ideal. It was a princess cut with a simple halo setting and thank god I was already on this site so I knew what I was looking at.
Here are the specs I have been using to look on my own:
Cut: Ideal
Carat: 1.5-2.0- bigger the better
Color: G-I
Clarity: VS1 or VS2 but definitely eye clean from a typical distance
No fluorescence
$$$: I hope to keep it around 10-12 but i could go to 15 but it would have to be unbelievable.

My searches have probably been focused on the WhiteFlash and JamesAllen sites as they have a great reputation on here. I would be willing to work with other approved vendors from this site though.
Ok, as settings go I have not found many that I would like. Below is a picture I found doing research. I know the middle rock is a emerald cut but I figure something like it could be created for the princess. I don't know if I will be able to afford the setting as it is a custom made ring for one of the bachelorettes. But it's the first setting that made me go...that looks nice. So something similar woudl be nice too. I still need to find out her ring size...
