Can you help me find a .95 princess for my friend?

Hi

I have been searching on behalf of my friend, who is engaged and wants a simply set princess cut diamond. She has a quite modest budget, and we have looked at a .88 G SI2 for $3700 (including setting) AUD. Do you think it is possible to get any better value? I have looked at BGD and Whiteflash and I couldn't see anything better. The .88 is GIA certified, and from memory 5.23 x 5.13mm. My friend would like 5.5mm approx and therefore probably around .95ct.

Finally, taking into account the strong AU dollar at the moment she would probably consider up to around $3500 for the stone if she can still get the simple setting for about $500 here.

In my searches so far I can't really find anything as good a value as the .88 so I guess I'm hoping to get confirmation from the PS experts.

Many thanks :)))

I'll suggest this one again, since no one has grabbed it yet, to me, it sure looks like a beauty! Wish I had the dough, I would grab it! Ask Judah or Barry to tell you their opinion, they will be honest with you, and they will look at others if you ask. I think their prices are terrific!

Excel has a few simple setting as well, here are a couple...

this one for $276.00

this one for $547.00

Either setting, with the diamond above puts the cost under 3,800.00 USD

Lucky, to have a friend like you!

Yes, looks very nice from the pictures, but of course you need to see which lab graded it and get a look at the report. When you scroll down it says "GIA specifications," so that sounds promising that it's a GIA-graded diamond.

Keep in mind that this diamond's dimensions are less than 5.5x5.5, so you may want to keep looking if that's a very important criterion.

What do you guys think of this one please?

It's GIA 1119261514 from www.since1910.com here (I'm sorry - I don't know how to make it a clicky link)

http://www.since1910.com/loose-diamonds/stone/16712222.aspx

It's 5.42 x 5.39 and just over $3200. It's a better price than the others I've seen, but they don't have ASET images displayed. One of my work friends received her beautiful engagement ring from them and they were very pleased but then she got a 1.8ct D with no expense spared.

Thanks!

What are your friend's preferences? Is getting a .95 ct the most important aspect? How does she prioritize the 4 C's? In a princess cut stone, color will tend to show more than a RB stone.... so she may see a tint in I-J-K... here are suggestions, but it would be better to know what her cut off is in terms of color- cut- and clarity. In my opinion- the cut is sooo important... then as long as it's eyeclean- SI2 or better in clarity- and then something that faces up white"er"- like I or higher in a princess... but those are my cut off points in a princess, she may have totally different preferences...

some lower color options- but with an ideal cut..

Hold up- Does this whiteflash have a GIA or EGL report attached to the diamond? Cause sight unseen, you could be buying an SI with that feather or cloud smack dab in the middle of the table. You have got a little flo in that stone, with the H color, also. The dimensions are nice- it's a nicely proportioned shape, from what I can tell, but without looking at the stone or clarity plot, it is difficult to know where the inclusions are placed. What are you trying to find... Princess, G/H .96cts., VG to EX? You can find that in your price range. I just looked up two stones, one with faint flo, one without, both H, SI1, excellent, very good, GIA. So....shop around and make the retailer look at the stone before he/she sends it off to you. Or, make him/her send you a couple of pictures of the actual stone. Hope this helps.

Ok, sorry, i just never heard of whiteflash as a retailer :twirl: . Do try to find out if the diamond comes with a certification though. Anyone can evaluate or appraise a diamond if they are motivated to sell it. If you are planning to spend even a nickel. let alone a few thousand on a diamond, be demanding.

Of all the ones posted so far, the first one from Excel is still my favorite. ETA: It's not that far off from 5.5x5.5, just wanted to call it to your attention that it wasn't exactly that size.

This one posted by Amysbling is also promising if you're OK with J:

For various reasons, I don't like the rest of the JA stones much (except I can't see the WF one for some reason). I can't make any kind of statement about the Since 1910 one because they don't offer photos. There's no way to tell what a princess looks like just based on numbers, so I wouldn't buy a princess without knowing what it looks like first.
