Vendor would know the history of at least those he buy back. If a virtual stone, probably no.
Stones direct from cutting house will have the history well documented. Paul of Crafted by Infinity is involved in each step of the cutting process, he will know the origins of each stone, the newer stones even has the rough image taken before the polishing.

This is a really cool feature that Crafted by Infinity has started to offer with their new production! Not only is there a picture of the diamond rough available, but Paul is issuing a ''birth certificate'' featuring a picture of the rough and a description. I love it!

As Stone Cold has mentioned just below this post the date on the grading report relates only to the date that the diamond was sent to the Lab issuing the report.Date: 4/27/2010 8:06:08 PM

Is the date on the GIA report related to shortly after the diamond was cut and therefore ''born'' so to speak? And is there a way of finding out where your stone actually came from (in terms of country)? Or indeed if it has been previously owned?![]()
