I found it in Kosovo. My dad found a similar rock years ago and sent it to some guy in France to see what it was. He said it contains diamond, but would be of no value once refined.
I think you might be better off taking to a local geology or rock club. It's not a gem, but it might contain diamond, per your dad's contact.
The cheap instruments jeweler's use are not designed to determine whether a rock contains bits of diamonds. There are lots of things that will fool them, like metal. They are only meant for use on things that look a lot like gems.
Ah okay. Your original question asked if it could be 'a diamond' which (to me) is different than could it 'contain diamond.' I suppose it could contain diamond but in this case then I would skip the jeweler and take it to a rock club or geology club like ChristineRose suggested. Let us know what you find out!
