Can the prong setting be changed

Does anyone know whether a prong setting be changed? My ring is a basket kind of setting and it covers the bottom tip of the diamond. Therefore I was wondering if the prong setting can be either raised so the diamond can be seen or can the prong be changed to a pegged etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You can always have a different head put on the ring to hold the stone. I would prefer one without the basket for this particular type of setting. A jeweler should be able to show you options of new heads to consider.

Thank you for the reply. I don't suppose you know how much this normally costs. The diamond is 3/8.

It is the head you want changed, as MGR said. A more open head would allow for easier cleaning of your diamond. I do not know the cost. A wild guess would be between $100 and $200?
