Can rubies chip?

Hello, I''m new and don''t know too much about rubies. I''ve had this ring for about 4 yrs and noticed not too long ago that there is a chip in the center ruby. I was just wondering what can I do? Can rubies chip? You can''t really see it with the photo I''m attaching, but it''s in the lower right corner. Thanks for any input!

anything can chip.....even a diamond if hit just right [or wrong, depending on your point of view!]. Inclusions can also make a stone vulnerable. you might check into having it repolished but be sure to work with someone you trust.

Absolutely. All gemstones can chip. You might want to get a jeweller to check out the ring just to be sure the ruby is still secure in the setting.
