Can I swap gemstones in stud earrings?

Hi everyone, quick question... :wavey:

I have two beautiful peachy pink zircon's that I'd like to set as inexpensive stud earrings. I am wanting to know if I bought some sterling silver (rose gold dipped) CZ studs the same size as the zircon's - could I ask a jeweller to simply switch the stones?

Thanks in advance.

The generic answer is yes but...
1. CS tends to be cut deeper than diamonds and CZs, so depending on how bottom heavy it is, it might or it might not fit.
2. Depends on the quality of the setting. Some jewellers will not touch any silver settings.

Hmmm ok I'll take some precise measurements first & see how I go finding something that fits depth-wise. Thanks Chrono!

Don't forget the "bulge" factor. My jeweller couldn't use the 8 prong stuller stud setting because my sphenes bulged outwards too much to fit. I had to go with a 4 prong setting.
