Thanks @lovedogs this is so kind of you and so helpful! Looking at the stones you have chosen I can really see what @mwilliamanderson means by dead in my choice. I can also see that your choices seem to have smaller tables and higher crowns than what I had chosen.
For the stone itself I can spend $6000-7000CAD or $4500-5200USD. I've been maybe been focusing too much on getting a stone that appears larger. I am replacing a lost 0.96 D SI1 7.44 x 5.60 x 3.50mm engagement ring and was hoping for a bit of an upgrade on size/clarity.
Totally understanding wanting a bigger stone! I think as long as it is eye clean you should be fine, but not everyone feels that way. IMHO cut is king, and a stone that has more "mush" but is bigger won't have the livey-ness (is that a word? probably not) or fire that you would get with one that is the same size as your original but has a great cut. So for me, I would personally focus on getting a great performing stone that is no smaller than your original.
