I'm a little concerned about the extremely thick girdle. Also about the light return as I am ordering online and don't really have a clue what I'm doing! Oh and the 65% table.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t know much about choosing ovals so hopefully someone else will comment but I do know what my eye likes...that stone has very lively bow tie shaped area and the rest of the stone looks dead. I would keep looking.

I see a lot of mushy parts, so I personally don't like it.

Going to preempt this by saying I'm not an oval expert like @tyty333 and others, but here are some that caught my eye. I don't know your budget, so apologies if these aren't within that range. I personally prefer stones that have almost an "h&a" flavor compared to more traditionally cut ovals because it tends to minimize the bowtie effect, and the bowties drive me nuts.

**not sure if this is eye clean, so you would need to make sure

**seems eye clean, but worth looking at the clarity plot carefully to make sure

Now I"m going to suggest 2 "weirder" stones that I personally love but are likely not going to be everyone's preference.

This is similar to a moval (oval + marquise), which is why I love it.

This next one is faceted differently in the middle. I forget the name of this style of oval but have always liked them. EDIT. I think it's a 4-main.

Thanks @mwilliamanderson, I see what you mean.
Thanks @lovedogs this is so kind of you and so helpful! Looking at the stones you have chosen I can really see what @mwilliamanderson means by dead in my choice. I can also see that your choices seem to have smaller tables and higher crowns than what I had chosen.
For the stone itself I can spend $6000-7000CAD or $4500-5200USD. I've been maybe been focusing too much on getting a stone that appears larger. I am replacing a lost 0.96 D SI1 7.44 x 5.60 x 3.50mm engagement ring and was hoping for a bit of an upgrade on size/clarity.

Totally understanding wanting a bigger stone! I think as long as it is eye clean you should be fine, but not everyone feels that way. IMHO cut is king, and a stone that has more "mush" but is bigger won't have the livey-ness (is that a word? probably not) or fire that you would get with one that is the same size as your original but has a great cut. So for me, I would personally focus on getting a great performing stone that is no smaller than your original.

If it's not a word, it should be! Great advice, thank you <3
