What do you guys think about this stone?
I''m still in the selection process between Infinity, Blue Nile, and this stone. I plugged it in the HCA, and the return is 1.1, so just want to make sure I got it done right. What do you guys think about this comparing to Infinity of Wink''s?

Just fixed the link then I will take a look for you. Also in case you aren't aware with the HCA, a lower score isn't better than a higher one, the aim is to score below 2 as the HCA is more of a pass or fail first round eliminator, not really used as a selection tool.

Are you still thinking about this particular Infinity?

Lor- Yes that one and the one below. The 14,005 one is a bit over my budget after I add the costs for setting and wedding band. Can you give me your opinion on all 3?

Ok, I think the ' safest' choice would be the GOG diamond if Jon says it is eyeclean and the first Infinity is a stretch financially. The L colour Infinity is beautiful but it is possible you might notice a little body colour - if that isn't a problem then fine but if you would prefer a very white diamond then the G might be the best option.

Lor- Thank you for your instant input.
I''m not sure if you remember in my thread few weeks ago. She likes Tiffany''s, due to its sparkles and fire- and could careless about the green box or the name brand. Do you think this diamond will outperform Tiffany''s along, and have the same fire as Infinity''s diamonds? I just want to make sure that for the money, I''m getting the right diamond.
Plus, I kinda like the G color for GOG especially being graded by AGS..
Let me know what you think..

You are most welcome!

It is possible if it is eyeclean, the GOG diamond will definitely rival a Tiffany! It is an excellent rock, it is hard to compare performance nuances with an Infinity, suffice to say either could be an excellent choice. I really like the J SI1 Infinity personally but as it is a bit too expensive and you like the idea of the G colour then what I would do is talk to Jon at GOG to check that the diamond is eyeclean and put it on hold to prevent lurker poaching if you are seriously considering it for purchase! Jon will be able to describe the diamond and its performance in great detail with you.

Are the measurement seem smaller to you guys?
I understand that I''m looking at 1.51 ct, but with dimensions below, will it look smaller than other 1.5ct out there?
Width: 7.39mm
Length: 7.41mm
Depth: 4.52mm

Lor- Just talked to Jon at GOG, within 1/2 arm length, he could not see any inclusion, but within 6" you can somewhat see. What do you think?

Thank you Ellen! Now I''m down to 2...

GOG 1.51 ct G in Color SI2 Versus Infinity 1.82 J in Color

Huge Diff. in price $4300.00- i''m sure 1.82 will have a much diff. in size with naked eyes too..

Well yes, some difference, but maybe not quite as big as you''d think. A 1.50 is a very nice size, nothing to sneeze at, by any stretch! So don''t feel like you''d be giving her something "less" with that stone.

I just saw the eyeclean description. That would bother me personally, but everyone is different. Do you think it would bother her? And there is the WF stone as a back up, so you don''t have to "settle" here.

And you''re welcome!

With jon''s description of SI2 being eye clean- he said it''s one of the better SI2. Trained diamond expert will able to see it, and not by a typical human eyes. With it being set on a 18k white gold, it helps also too. I mean, it bothers to know there are inclusions and it''s SI2. As long as I''m getting the G color, 1.5 ct and with that price. I don''t think it will bother me, plus my fiance is not an expert in diamond. So hopefully with 1.5ct and G color, it will be a great stone for her. So many diamonds, many choices..

Ellen,
To you, you''d sacrifice going from G (GOG) to J (WF)- and upgrade to VS2? Price diff. is few hundreds?
But from human naked eyes, you can tell the color differences, whereas with the white gold setting- SI2 to VS2, it will be hard to see the inclusions.

Keep in mind, I am picky.
So for me, if I could see any inclusions, I would pick the other. In a very well cut stone, color/warmth is masked some. So we're not talking a yellow stone with the J here, not even close! If you haven't seen this yet, take a look. It's a video on diamond color, and maybe it will help you to see a G and J (among the other colors).

Sorry Kev, as Ellen says I had gone to bed!!

I took another look at the diamond, its hard to say....I wouldn''t mind a tiny inclusion which was unobtrustive to be visible, but I wouldn''t want a messy looking diamond if that makes sense, where the inclusions are very obvious. Did Jon say whether the inclusions were visible mainly face up or from the side?

Lor/Ellen- I will ask Jon whether it can be seen face up/side. And I will ask if it''s black/dark inclusion or colorless too

That sounds like a plan Kev, Jon is very used to doing this and will give you a good indication of how it looks!

I am assuming that inclusions are better when it can been seen on the side/rather than face up, and colorless, instead of black/dark

Usually but it really depends on the particular diamond, there can be exceptions!

As I''m looking at the AGS report, it shows that there are scattered "cloud" inclusions

From these images of microscopics, can you see what types of inclusions they are?

I am not an expert so I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as what I was seeing Kev as I don't want to mislead you, Jon will be completely straight with you if you ask him for a detailed account on how the inclusions show or don't show in the diamond.

It looks good. It looks as if an inclusion might be reflecting there but Jon will tell you for sure.
