mrssalvo That is a beautiful ring. I want my center stone to be the focus not the halo. Like in your ring. Can you please tell me where you had your ring made?

thanks jaidjo, i just purchased it so it's still very new to me. it's actually a Daniel K ring.

I think your ring is very lovely too, it just needs to be a little more dainty, especially with your tiny hands. if there is any way to get the stones in the halo smaller and use a little less metal i really do think it will make all the difference in the world for you and will get your center stone back to being the *star.*

I really wish that I had found this site before I had my ring reset. Oh well.
Thank you all for your advice and input. I will keep you posted on whatever happens.

I would go back to the jeweler and be very friendly, but assertive about how you feel and that you would like the ring to be re-made or get your money back (you may not be able to get it all back). Halos can be made more delicately and while yours looks very well-made I agree that it looks a little thick. If you end up starting over I would suggest buying the real deal and getting the ritani or contacting leon mege (artofplatinum.com). Not all jewelers are capable of making delicate halos.

Good luck, the custom process can be difficult!

i hope i wasnt mean..i didnt mean to be...im sure if you go back and you explain how you feel they would fix it for you...let us know how it goes!

emilina22 you were not mean at all! You told me what I felt all along. I needed to hear all the honest opinion from everyone on this forum.

It is a lovely ring but I think I would want the halo right beside the center stone.

I''m very partial to halos so I love it.

Honestly, I'd get my money back and start over. I'd just get the Ritani setting and call it a day. The problem with halos is that unless the melee is quite small in proportion to the center stone, the halo ends up overwhelming the center stone...I also think your jeweler/benchman is a bit lazy, for lack of a better description and here's why. From the side, your setting/shank is just a big chunk of platinum without any curves along the hand or finger. It's as if he just plunked down a big halo on top of a pre carved shank and called it a day...and this is why if you can, I'd get my money back and go elsewhere, or have him order in a pre made setting like from Ritani, since that ratio of melee to center stone seems like it would work for your stone as well. Good luck! Dont settle if you're not happy...and you dont sound happy so dont settle!

i know that when my FI started working on my ering and we met with our jeweler for the first time after showing him what we wanted, the first thing he said was that he wanted to be sure that the halo was porportional, becasue if it wasnt than the whole ring would look odd, its just one of those details that you have to be very careful about. im sure that this can be fixed and that after this whole process your going to get the ring you have always wanted.

Actually to go against the general feeling.. I like it the way it is! It is a different look to the Ritani so if that is what you wanted then I can see that you might be a little concerned.

However I think it has a unique look of its own. More bold and architectural or deco-ish than the ritani.

Me likes it! Still, you gotta love it.
