Can I Change The Head On This Art Deco Ring???

So, my boyfriend proposed over the weekend and gave me a beautiful antique art deco style ring. While I do really love it, I would like to change the stone from a diamond to a larger light blue sapphire (I just don't really care for diamonds), and change the mount to a textured bezel instead of the tiny prongs. I've attached a photo of the ring before (left side) and photoshopped after (right ride - blue stone) of what I would like it to look like.

Does anyone know if this is even possible??? Thanks in advance!

Your best bet it to take the ring to a good local jeweler to get their opinion. I'd take it to a local jeweler that features in-house fabrication with a variety of styles to be on the safe side. Not all jewelers would be able to make the fine bezel you're contemplating, and fit it into the existing setting, while maintaining the integrity and detailing of the original setting.
