Happy new year! Does anyone know what type of stone this is?

Thanks!

Oh gee! All I can see is the surreal color and high RI: irradiated diamond or CZ come to mind first. It may be natural Zircon - but I wouldn''t bet on it because these are rarely this blue or cut this way... and there is no trace of the typical birefringence (pavilion facet edges looking ''doubled'' though the table).

The price should make the cut between color treated diamond and CZ any day. The perfect clarity in the pictures (it could also be that whatever inclusions there are do not how) hints at the second. But... wouldn''t a larger, turquoise blue diamond be nice

Look, I wrote this mostly to try my luck. It isn''t fair game to guess what after pictures like that. I would never take a real chance with it, to be honest. There should be some way to have a proper reality check before any purchase (are you looking to buy this one or a similar piece?) becomes final (i.e. credible return policy and expert advice).

My 2c

Btw. Nice color, regardless of what that is.

blue cz
Yup, that''s what I think too.

Thanks so much everyone. I actually have a pave setting from my 5ct Asscher that I am having reset that I need a stone for.
I love the color of the stone!

Is there a difference between blue CZ and Zircon?

CZ is a synthetic material. Zircon is a natural gemstone. The similar names are so by coincidence - unfortunately for the natural gem!

Zircon has very high brilliance among natural stones - significantly more than sapphire, although not quite as high as diamonds. Fine examples are fairly rare, but still surprisingly inexpensive given the striking color. Large gems are available more often than for other precious stones (5 cts or so is not tall order - for examples).

Here''s and example of what I am talking about: ''IslandDreams''s Caribbean blue Zircon pendant

A round brilliant cut could be found, if you wish. The shape is less common, but given the high brilliance of Zircon, such stones look fantastic, IMO.

Found the story in an older thread... but no pictures. Any chance we might see any on the forum? Congratulations by all means.

And this is why I thought the picture you have posted could have been Zircon... give or take a shade of color. Not all is this deep (more intense blue exists too), but, hope this gives the idea.

Hi Ana,

I am having my Asscher reset for the 3rd time. I actually purchased the stone last Jan. but still not have been
happy with any of the settings. I am having a custom halo design made, a copy of one of Leon Mege''s settings.

I tried to post pictures of my ring last year with no success. When the new setting is finished I will try to post pictures of
it.

Thanks for all the info on the Zircon, it''s very much appreciated. I need to find something to put into my asscher setting.

I dunno, but it''s freakin'' gorgeous!

That looks to be one of the russian blue/green color change CZ''s. They change from greens to blues depending on the light source, they are a alot of fun and fairly inexpensive. I wish there was a natural stone that had those colors, it would be very expensive and very popular.

Wink do you sell this color?

Thanks
