I somewhat settled on the diamond layout/dimensions for the ER that I have been shopping for, so now I just need to find a setting! I want to do a .90-.95 RB center stone with 2 10-point RBs on either side for a total of 5-stones. My GF''s ring size is 6.5. Based on my initial rough estimates, this would put the total coverage area of the diamonds at 18-20mm (3+3+6.2+3+3). Does this seem pretty good based on her ring size?

I have seen very few 5-stone engagement ring setting out there and even fewer that actually look somewhat interesting. Can anyone recommend anything that they have seen out there? I am also interested in your opinions on size ratio that I have chosen between the center and sidestones. I am getting close to buying a center stone so any help/advice is much appreciated!

I''m not sure of your girlfriend''s taste but you could do something like this - with or without a halo. Other than this 5 stone, I haven''t seen any that I''m dying to own. Are you considering the 5 stone purely for finger coverage or does it have special significance for you?

Our 5 year dating anniversary is at the end of May and I plan to propose a month or so before then. It''s a little cheesy I suppose, but I thought that the 5-year, 5-stone engagement ring would be a nice additional sentimental touch. I steered away from a solitaire and the only 3-stone design that I considered was a center RB with 2 pear sidestones because 75% of the engaged couples that we know have the RB 3-stone set-up. My budget is about 1500-1600 max for the setting, so I didn''t think that I would be able to get a setting with a couple of decent pear stones in the right size for that price.

The nicest, I think, is the U setting. It is the last one pictured at the bottom of http://www.mwmjewelry.com/
I agree! That is a beautiful setting. Unfortunately probably not w/i my budget for the setting, but if it was, that would definately be in my top 3!
