I found this beautiful ring on www.finejewelers.com I am interested in, but they seem a bit suspicious. I don''t know if these are rings they made or someone else''s. Can anyone recognize this stamp in the ring??? It is a picture of a jem with the leters "Y D" in it.

Here is the pic.

It just looks like a maker''s stamp. Sometimes different brands/companies have stamps, like a clothing label "GAP" or "Karen Millen", to mark the ring as theirs.

Why are you so intent on buying from the potentially shady company? There are plenty of other more reputable places that have almost exactly what you are looking for!

Why not try this ring from Signed Pieces/Facets. My wedding band is from them and they are GREAT to deal with.

Hope that helps and best of luck with your purchase! Those bands are gorgeous!

Ditto! I have tried on that exact ring with all diamonds and it was truly gorgeous!!! Facets/Signed Pieces is a great company with high quality rings.

Love the ring! It should be, as others have mentioned, a markers stamp...

Personally, I agree that you should look elsewhere...to a company or place where you KNOW where your ring was made...it helps with things like conflict diamonds, quality, etc.

SignedPieces does make similar rings, and you can be assured of the quality, etc. I would look into a number of places before you purchase it...

LOVE THE STYLE THOUGH!

I would also look into signed pieces. They have a great reputation and a great return policy and have rings very similar to this.

I saw a Tacori similar to that so you might want to check Tacori's site. I am pretty sure Tacori has a T stamp or something like that.

Thank you very much for your input!!! I''ll check out those companies!!!

why is it whenever I try to insert a smile it leaves this weird code?? Can anyone else see it?

I just found out on google that they have a store through Amazon.com I guess they must be real....

i don''t recognize the stamp but that should be no reason for alarm in thinking something is shady. The stamp could be the seal of the casting company that manufactured the casting of that particular ring. The jeweler then chooses the stones, has them set into the casting and finally polished and rhodiumed for sale. Many casting companies here on 47th street will place their company seal on the casting piece in their selling to jewelers. ... a little strange for a casting company to have a symbol of a gemstone though.... but thought to just present another perspective on the issue

i''m actualy a little intrigued as to why that part of the ring had no holes punched through. first time i ever noticed something like that. have to keep an eye open for the future if that''s a common thing. whatever, feel free for anyone to chime in and let me know if that''s a common thing in these types of bands

What people were referring to in response to the OP was about the website... Not referring to the stamp, makers mark etc...

its solid there so the ring can be re-sized.
Very common in some price classes.
Iv seen it a bunch of times.
I have also seen that stamp in B&M''s on rings but have no idea who it is.
The Y isn''t actually an english Y but a foreign character,,, Russian maybe?

That''s great! What is b&m??

I posted another thread in "show me the ring" called "www.FineJewelers.com credible??" a few days ago and got a reply from kimh today. Here is what she said...............

"We found them to be very credible.

My finance ordered my first engagement ring for me through their Amazon store which we have returned for a full refund since I was looking for platinum and not 18kt. We did end up buying one of their partial eternity engagement rings in platinum with the matching band that goes with it. My finance had both rings appraised by a local jeweler and quality of diamonds and purity of platinum was as advertised.

We shopped at downtown Los Angeles after returning the 18kt ring and found their prices to be 30% less than other jewelers for similar quality stones.

Since than I have ordered a benchmark band for my finance from them. Their customer service is great and from our research they have been selling online for more than 10 years which is longer than most other online jewelers. They also have a 5 star rating at Amazon and a 30 day return policy."

completely not relevant to the topic at hand but i love the mistake of misspelling "fiance" for "finance" :-) i think that''s hilarious :-)

Me too. I always think it''s a Freudian slip.

Yes, my “Freudian slip” will be hilarious to everybody but my fiancé, who keeps on telling me how high maintenance I am! Hey, I’m worth it!

I just looked inside my ring just to make sure, and I have that same YD stamp inside a diamond, just like in your picture.
I also have a stamp “950 PT”
When we had the ring appraised, that was the stamp that really seemed important, as it was explained to me that it stands for Platinum and the purity of it.
As for the other stamp, it was just noted on the appraisal sheet that the ring was also stamped YD, with no further explanation of it.

I guess it may be a designer signature, or maybe a quality control mark as in “checked by YD” ?
