Can a feather ever be black in color?

Ring is a H VS1 ACA. Here is the link to the stone:

I was recently cleaning the ring and noticed a black inclusion in the same spot where the feather should be located. When I first bought the stone I never noticed it and I studied the stone for several hours .

Now that I am looking at it further it appears that the black spot I see may be where the bottom of the setting meets the diamond. Now it really looks like the plating on the ring may have been affected somehow that makes it appear that way. It is hard to tell. I might see if I can get a pic of it

I doubt it would be a black inclusion because the diamond is vs1 quality. It sounds to be like it's some sort of material
from the ring setting itself. Maybe take it to a jeweler for a thorough cleaning with ultrasonic will help to dislodge it.

A feather with strain can be brown or black. Maybe an appraiser here would know more.

They can appear black or more likely grey from the interference with the light return.
I suppose its possible that is the feather is from an exploded crystal that some of that crystal would remain and it could appear dark also.

A feather could definitely appear black in color, either genuinely black (e.g. black colored feather) or due to blockage of the light path reflecting off the feather.
Usualy black feathers (and/or inclusions) on the outer surface (e.g. surface reaching) would be cleared by a standard procedure called boiling-soaking which can possibly partialy or completely clear out the black colored inclusion making them colorless. Usualy the reason most surface reaching inclusions will not be colored on the polished end products.
