Cameo ring help

Can’t recall who is the PS expert on cameos, perhaps @PreRaphaelite?

As far as I know, most cameos are carved in Italy.
This one looks like mother of pearl, not the pink and white helmet shell we are used to seeing.
The level of carving is the first thing to examine when choosing a cameo. A beautiful face is important. Is she pretty or homely?
And with rings, you don't want any wear on the carving itself.
Cameos fell out of fashion by the 1940s, so this one is probably 1930s-40s, based on the setting style. Victorian era cameos are usually modeled after classical goddesses like Athena and Demeter. Generic "pretty lady" cameos are more modern.
So if the carving is crisp, and the lady is pretty, then go for it!

I'm sorry, maybe I should've kept quiet

Not at all, @stracci2000 and I am so sorry to have slighted you. That was absolutely not my intention at all. You two are the first people I think of when it comes to antique jewelry, as you both have so much knowledge. I appreciate all of your posts, and the information you share so freely. My apologies.

I know very little about cameos but agree with @stracci2000 that this doesn’t look like your typical pink and white helmet shell ones. You can see that it lacks that contrast in the pictures.

So I ended up buying this ring! Couldn’t pass it up precisely bc of the colors. I think it’s mother of pearl on some kind of shell.

I’m glad you bought it! Love the more muted colors of this cameo.
