Hi!
I wanted to respond to your post in another thread re. three-stone proportions but since the OP expressed that she'd prefer to have that one closed I thought I'd start another
I love multi-stone rings so I'm totally biased
but 0.8/0.4 are such classic proportions, it's hard to imagine going wrong with them! Would you want a wide pave band like braga's as well?
I think with multi-stone rings wherein the sidestones aren't really incorporated into the band itself (not like braga's where her side rose cuts and are actually part of the band) the angle of the sidestones can make a huge difference. The sidestones could be sharply angled or almost flat, they could be tucked under the center or set girdle to girdle in a row... I've heard that longer stones set N/S tend to elongate the finger whereas E/W tends to shorten, what do you think of ovals or cushions or ECs? I'd love to try a bunch on one day to see if my eyes agree
I do personally *love* when sidestones are tucked under the center a bit *or* set girdle-to-girdle with the centre and angled so the inner circumference, outer circumference of the band, and the arc the girdle planes make are concentric - that's just my preference though!
0.8/~0.5/0.3/0.15 could make an interesting seven-stone, too...

I loved your post with the diagrams about diamond band versus plain metal on the solitaire and the ring size being too big.
I was just thinking last night, that I would like a 3 stone sometime, about 0.80 centre and 0.40 side stones, I already
have a small 3 stone that is 0.30 centre and 0.15 side stones. I was thinking last night that maybe it would not suit
me though. I have a large solitaire that looks fine though. I have very short fingers and I would want it in a medium
to high setting as I don't like low set for this style. Do you think that the theory with the diamond side stones like the
diamond band on this thread, is the reason I am feeling it wouldn't suit me. Maybe I just have a complex about my
very short fingers although small size fingers.I am not worried about the centre stone looking smaller just that I
think the area from the ring to the point of my fingers will look smaller. I also have a wide hand. I just wonder if
a large 3 stone would not suit me although I like the smaller one. Anyone else think this way?
