Thanks Imurden!!! I''d love to hear yours.

Ok since this thread got bumped I thought I''d update all of you on how my Nanny is doing. Well I am happy to say she is doing very well. She has pretty much beaten the illness and is back to her old self. She can no longer walk and is in her room 24/7. But she is in good spirits and I visit her all the time. She is sooo funny. I said Nanny why you had one foot in the grave. She said what ever gave you that idea?? I said you were dying. She says, well I certianly hope I didn''t dissapoint you. What a crack up. I have lots of Valentine treats for her tomorrow and am blessed to have her around for a while longer. The doctors are amazed but I said she''ll go when she''s ready not a minute sooner!! Lisa

Your grandmother seems like a lot of fun
!

Ok here''s the latest. I hired a new doctor as the one we had was lame. Nanny has a bad leg infection and I fear that it''s cellulitis. The new doctor will see her tomorrow and will give her the proper care she needs. I am fortunate that this doctor agreed to take Nanny under his care. I had been trying to get my doctor to do this but he is just too busy. It''s hard to find a doctor that is willing to go to the nursing home. But I feel that this new doctor will do a great job. She feels great, but the leg is a mess. The nursing home has been attentive but I feel that''s cause I am there every day. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this can be healed with antibiotics and that the leg won''t have to be amputated. It''s pretty narly looking. We have been through hell and back. I just hope the outcome is good. Please keep her in your prayers. She could use them right now. I am beating myself up, because I am the one responsible for her. I am doing everything I can. But the doctor was an idiot and I had to fire him. Thanks for listening. Lisa

Sorry to hear about your Nanny''s leg kaleigh. Hopefully this new doctor will do a better job taking care of her. Don''t beat yourself up about this - you are doing your best for her!!

Heather

Lisa I was just thinking of your Nanny last week and was trying to find the thread about her so I could ask how she was. I hope this new Dr. works out for you. She just seems like a hoot and a half and I would love to have grown up with this fabulous lady! You are truly blessed to have her in your life.

Thanks Heather and Moon River. The doctor met with us this morning and he says the leg can heal. She was on Prednisone for her lungs and one of the side effects is fluid on her leg. Anyway he is tapering her off that and putting her on Singulair for her breathing. He was sooooo nice to her and kind of reminded me of Marcus Welby. A real gentleman. So with the prednisone being out of her system and some physical therapy she should be able to walk again. Something she hasn''t been able to do since December. I said Nanny if you can walk, I can take you for drives and have you over for dinner. So she is motivated and her spirit is really great. I am so thankful to have found such a wondeful doctor. Yay!!!

Way kewl
Prayers continue.

Kaleigh:

Just found this thread -- sounds like you''ve been through a lot with your Nanny - - it''s so hard to find good doctors for nursing home patients.

ANYWAY, I''m glad things are looking up and most especially, that your Nanny is in good spirits and is motivated to get well. Sometimes, that''s the biggest part of the battle ...

Hugs and prayers coming your way ... you and your family are SO lucky to have a Nanny in your life! She sounds very special ...

I have to say I just stumbled upon yours and sevens ones threads this morning as I was putting off some housework. I am glad I found these. Y''all are truly some inspiring ladies. I always enjoy reading y''alls opinions about things, no matter the topic because they always sound so genuine. I am glad that you "found" each other and I am glad I found pricescope. I guess you never know what you might find! I came across pricescope when I waas trying to get ideas of what I wanted in a new ring. I found a jeweler in Michael E. and i found some inspiration from the two of you and your lives. Thanks for sharing! Mokey

Awww, thanks Mokey, Browneyes and Storm. She is doing much better and thanks everyone for their prayers.

Best to Nanny!

Ok sad news, she''s ok but her diamond eternity band was stolen!!!!

I know who was on last night and it had to have been her. Lets call her Florence. She gets Nanny ready for bed and watches her take off her rings and Nanny puts them in her eye glass case. Nanny thought that was a clever place to hide them. I talked to the head of the nursing home. I asked that we give Florence a chance to return the ring before a police report is filed. I also thought of offering a $500 dollar reward. If anyone has any other ideas as what else I should do please let me know. She is in tears poor thing. I tore the room apart and looked with a flashlight (thanks Storm) and nothing. Went through candy, laundry, her bed, bureau, bathroom, socks, bathrobe, books eye glass case, curtains. Nada, nothing. Oh am I sad for her.

this is just aweful. i don''t have any better advice for you sis other than what you''ve already done. i just hope that some way, some how the ring turns up.

That has to be one of the most despicable things I have ever heard

I just hope maybe it turns up, I am so sorry to hear this .

Oh Kaleigh, that stinks. That was my grandmother's biggest fear when she was in a nursing home. She would not take her ring off for anything, nor would she just let us take it home. She always swore nurses were looking at it and were going to try and steal it. Maybe she was right
38.gif
. I hope it turns up and Nanny will get it back soon..

I think you are doing all the right things. Please keep us posted. I am so sorry for you and her. Some people just have no morals anymore! Mokey

There is a very very very hot and horrid place in hell reserved for people that would steal from people in nursing homes.

Hang in there Lisa- I hope things get resolved.

I just got a call from the head of security. He doesn''t work there like full time but gets called in on these kind of matters. I told him I was 200% sure the ring was stolen and that I know who stole it. He is going to review the tapes, and get back to me tomorrow. I called Nanny tonight and we discussed the reward and she is mad that I would even offer one. I can see her point but I also know if there isn''t a reward we ain''t gonna see this ring. So that''s what''s going on right now. The police will be notified first thing tomorrow and a report will be filed. I hope she gets it back.

The depths some people will sink to........

I met with the police earlier today in Nanny''s room. They took a full report and said it will be very hard to prove. They will talk to the woman in question, but told me not to get my hopes up. I want to offer a reward but how can I do it so the woman will return the ring without being obvious that she stole it. I don''t want her to get in trouble just want Nanny''s ring back.
39.gif

I think you are doing everything that you can possibly do. I wish there was somthing I could say, but I really have no words. I truly don''t know how anyone could do this to someone that sounds so wonderful! Stay on top of them and please keep us all posted. Sincerely, Mokey

Lisa that is just awful that your grandmother''s ring was stolen! It would be great if you could get this woman to take a lie detector test, but I don''t think you can force someone to do it. I would go ahead and offer the reward. She can always say that she just "found" it. I certainly hope that it turns up and that your grandmother''s leg continues to improve so she can be up and about again!

Thanks Mokey and Sundial. Nanny is livid about doing a reward. She says why do I have to pay the person who stole my ring?? Ya know that does make a lot of sense. But I asked her do you want your ring back cause that''s the only way you''re going to get it back. I can''t do a reward behind her back she would find out about it. Maybe in a few days she will soften up???
39.gif

Oh, Lisa!!!!! How Awful!!!

I just discovered this...I''m SO SORRY!!!!

I''m sitting here wracking my brains trying to figure out a "system" in the nursing home so that the guilty person can return the ring AND collect the reward ANONYMOUSLY.

Does anyone have any ideas how such a swap could be done?

The thing is, the usual "no questions asked" probably doesn''t work because even if you don''t press charges, the home would probably fire his/her sorry
a$$...

I think this is just dreadful...

I just saw your last post. Maybe if you stopped calling it a "reward" and started calling it a "ransom payment" she might stomach it better...

I don't know if this sounds crazy, but I'd almost be tempted to stick an envelope with the money in it on the staff bulletin board, and hope that the ring would turn up in it. Of course this would mean you'd have to trust everyone else who works at the home...

Oh my goodness I just saw this and I am furious
29.gif
I hope this person decides to do the ''right thing'' and give it back. I agree that the best way of doing so would be to give this person a chance to ''find it'' for your Nanny. She''s not going to be willing to fess up knowing her job will be on the line. I''ve known people like this. They want the easy way out.

Thanks widget and moon river!!! My mother called Nanny this morning. Nanny told her all about her ring being stolen. My mother just said well, you still have your wedding ring. Nanny was floored. I swear my mom has sh*t for brains. I am still thinking about what to do. The no questions asked thing might be the best way to go. Just hard to figure out how to do it. Ughhh.
