Hair and makeup is a catch 22 for me. My job involves bridal hair and makeup to a certain degree (a pretty high degree, too) however in the spirit of confidentiality I don''t want to disclose the name. And, on the flip side, because it''s my job I know a bit about the other businesses in the Chicagoland area that offer on location bridal work and none of them really thrill me enough to recommend them. A good rule of thumb when hiring a mua or hair stylist is to get a trial done before booking--and ask to see a "look book" or "porfolio" of their past bridal work. Also, collecting different pictures of makeup and hairstyles you like will help limit miscommunications with your artist.
