Hey girl! Just wanted to ask if you have thought about a bustle yet. Our dress has a lot of fabric back there, and I''ve seen pics of a traditional french bustle and I''m not a huge fan of it on our dress. I saw it on one that a girl was selling on Ebay, and the line that it made across the back of the dress just didn''t look great.

I''m thinking of maybe doing a double bustle, or I saw one that might have been a triple bustle somewhere, but I can''t find the pic anywhere.

Here is a link to Jcrow''s double bustle...https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/first-fitting-pics.47127/

Still searching for a pic of Dora french bustled, and for the pic of the triple bustle....what do you think?

This is kind of what i was trying to describe....but not exactly. The one I was thinking of basically had one small tuck at the top of the skirt, and then 2 smaller ones below it so it made a kind of pyramid....it made the skirt look like it was cascading...

OMG I hate when it eats my posts!!!!

I think I found the bustle I''m talking about, it''s called an Austrian bustle. Basically they run a ribbon down the length of the underside of the train and when it''s time to bustle it, you pull on the ribbon from the top and it cinches the train up. Sounds like you basically have to take the dress off to bustle it, but I''m ok with that!!

Here is a pic of an Austrian bustle....

If anyone else would like to chime in, please feel free!!! When I started this thread I would have called it Austrian bustles if I had known that''s what I was looking for!!! Also here is a pic of my (our!!) train...

Hi Kara! You''re such a doll. Thanks for researching bustles! Do you have your dress already? I''m practically counting the days until I get my dress. The estimated time of arrival is early June. Aaaaaaagh!!!

Anyway, yeah, I''m not a fan of the basic French bustle either. I like the multi-point bustles like the one you posted. The most beautiful bustle I''ve ever seen was on Gingerbcookie''s Reem Acra Adored. I wanted to get that dress just so I could have that bustle. I think she said it is a multi-point french bustle. I found a photo from a girl on the Knot with that dress (I know, it''s totally different from Dora, but I wonder if it will still work). She called hers a french bustle, so it must be a multi-point french.

I don''t know anything about the Austrian bustle, but if it''s just a ribbon cinching the fabric, it might be hard to get the "folds" to look pretty. I''m just basing this on the Roman blinds that I have...I just pull on a string and the blinds go up, but the folds are a pain in the a** because they''re always uneven. But maybe the seamstresses have a smart way of doing it on a dress!

What do you think about getting Dora into a multi-point french? I wouldn''t want the leftover train like on the Reem though. I would want it to be mostly all one length.

And here''s another photo of that kind of bustle.

Yeah, I think that multipoint french is the first kind I saw that I liked. You are right about the cinching, it would probably be hard to get it to look right. I'm going to ask my seamstress about the multipoint french, but no matter what I absolutely DON'T want the regular french bustle, it just looks very odd with our dress. I'll let you know what she says, I'm going tomorrow!!

ETA: I don't want my train dragging either....I feel like it will be hard to keep the organza on our dress pinned up in the bustle. I think she'll have to kind of sew the organza overlay to the silk underlay in the places where the bustle points will be....which I think will be fine because the train has so many folds in it. I'll take pics tomorrow for sure.

Hmmm...good point about sewing through the layers. Anyway, I''m so excited for you! I can''t wait to see pictures of the bustle. Hurry back!

Hey, so I didn''t get the bustle yet, but when I showed her the pictures she was like "oh yeah, that''s what I was planning on doing." haha so i have another appointment on april 15 for the bustle, i''ll be sure to post that when i get it done.

in the meantime, here is a pic of me in dora!!! god i love this dress, it''s ridiculous. how could i ever think i could be happy with another dress??

the seamstress did a great job already, she had to replace the zipper because all those girls who tried it on at WA must have been rough with that zipper!!! also, the gathered fabric at the top of the back (where the buttons are) was pretty ripped up, she used the sash to replace that section and it looks brand new, i''m so happy. carrie at WA ordered me a brand new sash, so i gave the old one to the seamstress to do any kind of repairs she needed to.

Here''s a pic - I love the gorgeous silk under the organza!!!

And, full length...love it!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaahhhhhhHHHH!!! Kara you look so AMAZING!! I''m glad the repairs are going well. From the photos, the dress looks like new. You are such a perfect sample size.

Honestly, I keep getting nervous about the dress. It looks so perfect on girls who are taller than me, and with bigger boobs, that I''m thinking...how can that SAME dress look good on me too? Like, well if the cups look great on someone with a C or D cup size, how can it possibly look good on an A cup? And will the flare look completely ridiculous on me b/c I''m like, half your height?! Agh...I''m freaking out a little. I mean, I''ve tried on the dress so many times but I just have this fear that it''ll turn out awful. I did see the dress look less than great on one bride. And I''m just scared that I will look at pictures of my wedding day and think, oh noooo it looks all disproportionate! I actually printed pictures of that bride and brought them to my consultant at Wedding Atelier, and said, how can we avoid this? I''m so paranoid!

Ok, sorry for the rant. You look SO fantastic in the dress that I feel like I have HUGE expectations for how the dress should look on me. Eeeek!

Please do post more pictures when you get the bustle. Also, do you have any photos of the back? I know you posted a photo of a girl who altered the back a little so it dips lower...and now I''m considering it too. (haha.. even though I don''t even know how the dress is going to look on me).

hahahahaha aww CJ don''t worry!!!! the beauty of a sweetheart is that it makes little boobs look bigger and bigger boobs . just look at jas12!! she said she lost like 5 pounds immediately before the wedding and her dress was swimming on her, and she still looked FANTASTIC!!!

and don''t worry about your height!!! this dress is basically a mermaid style, and mermaids still look fabulous on little brides!! they are making it to your EXACT specifications, so the flare will hit you in exactly the right spot, which is really the only thing you would need to worry about. if you had bought the sample and were planning to just chop it off to your height, i would be a little concerned!! but they do the hollow-to-hem for a reason. i just went back and looked at the pics of you in the Dora, and honestly it is going to look fabulous. the sample was obviously HUGE on you, so don''t let those pics make you have doubts. when it comes in your size, the sweetheart top will be much smaller, and it won''t look out of proportion at all. the dress will fit you perfectly, and you will be over the moon with excitement. it would absolutely KILL me to have to wait that long for my dress too, but just hang in there!!!

i didn''t end up taking the back down at all, because the seamstress made a good point that i need that support up there in the back. but, i think the way the back of the Tiffany is would look fantastic, just a scoop if you are thinking of changing it a little. i''ll post a pic of the back of the Tiffany, and then i''ll post a pic of the back of mine so you can kind of see the difference.

hahahahahaha i love that you printed pics of the girl in the dress that doesnt look that great, that''s hilarious!!! hahaha i was getting paranoid that my boobs would be flopping all over the place in it (i saw a pic of a girl wearing it who had really big boobs and it just looked icky...) but they stayed nicely in their place, and the seamstress is taking in the back a little so that they stay that way.

ok, so i hope i helped reassure you a little bit at least that your dress is going to look FABU!!!!

Hi Ladies,

So i went to WA on sunday and tried on the Dora. I really did try to keep an open mind when i went to try on the dresses but it was so hard. I really wanted an organza gown, and they had me trying on so many silk and satin gowns. The Dora was the only one i was interested in try. LOL, LOL! So, i did not purchase it yet, but i am more than 100% sure that, the Dora is my dress.

You look amazing it in, it is crazy how much i am in love with this dress. Everytime i see it i love it more and more.

and the back of mine...

NYCbride, did you get to take any photos???? if so, you have to start a thread!!!

No, they did not let me take any photos. I was very upset. They said when i go back to purchase it, i can take photos.

did you go to POB? they let me take pics there, and CJ went to the NJ POB and they let her take pics there too. plus, you said there were some vineyard dresses you liked too right?? did you just go to WA this weekend?

p.s. i REALLY hate that rule about no pictures in bridal salons. how on earth do they expect you to go try on a dress once and not be able to look at pictures of yourself in it first?? i mean, you will be photographed ALL DAY at your wedding, you need to see how the dress looks on camera!!!! yet another reason to abhor the wedding industry.

Sorry I missed your posts Kara. Yes I feel a little better thanks! I''m trying not to go nutty over it until I see the dress.

The back of yours looks great!

Also, have you seen the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings? Lots of pink and black ideas. And silhouettes too. I totally thought of you.
