HI CKinNYC!

Just curious, I saw your ring posted in thread about LM erings with wedding bands, and I love the profile view of your thread of your ering. I noticed there are no "arms" for your ring, therefor the diamond looks like it is set in a 4 prong. Is it a basket setting or is it 4 prong? I''ve only seen samples of his ring on his website that show the arms and I''m trying to figure out what look is better....

Here is your thread https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/some-pics-of-my-new-leon-engagement-ring.91422/page-3

I wonder if it really makes a difference in real life when looking at the ring?

Here is a typical side view of his rings which you can see have the arms:

just a quick *bump*

Here''s another bump

I'm not CK, but I do have some photos for you of a ring without cathedral arms. I've had both and prefer rings without cathedral arms. The ring below was made by 23rd Street jewelers. When I saw this one (and LE's), it was absolutely love at first sight, so I saved the pics to my hard drive! Hope this helps some.

Hi Pannini!!

How exciting, my first "page" !! haha!

Yes, my ring has no "arms", as you call them - the cathedral-style bits that come up and meet the metal that goes around the diamond. I specifically requested that in the design. However, the depth/height of the ring increases SLIGHTLY as it comes up towards the head. I really liked the Tiffany Novo, and that was one element that I wanted incorporated. TBH, it's actually a lot more subtle in my ring than I envisaged in my head - but I like that that means that my ring is very low-set, and doesn't catch on anything.

My ring is in a four-prong setting. Please feel free to ask any other questions! Also, the ring is on LM's website - in "Solitaires", page 9.

Thanks!

CK

Thanks CK! I think your ring is the one I want to model mine after, just perhaps with a channel bead setting! I guess I could tell Leon (if I go with him) that I want it like yours by referring to the image on his website, and then tell him the slight changes I''d want? This is exciting!

Is it a 4 prong setting with a basket head, is that what I''d call it?

Hi Kennedy, this ring is gorgeous.

Whose ring is this??

I think both are gorgeous, but I think the cathedarl one looks better the larger the stone. Pannini, what size stone are you planning on setting?

I''m planning on setting it with a 1.306 H VS1 from Brian Gavin =)

I wonder if Leon will think it''s too small if I go with him. =(

Sillysweetie,

The ering belongs to Demelza if you''re asking about the solid band solitaire

I agree with DS that both rings are gorgeous with great proportions. Sometimes the stone can be set too low, making the ring has a "neckless" look (if you know what I mean). These two rings are set about just right IMO.

I guess the top view won''t differ much, with or without the cathedral arms. It''s just a matter of personal preference.

I also got the impression that with a basket without the cathedral arms, the "donut" part would generally be larger so that the wedding band won''t sit flush. Please correct me if I''m wrong.

this is just a slight bump for CKinNYC so we can all drool over closer shots of her ering and wedding band as she promised in an old thread.

can''t wait! hope your trip went well!
