Are you having a project on without us knowing???Date: 10/13/2009 9:48:02 AM

You are welcome. Bob Hoskins is the coloured gemstone expert at Whiteflash and he really knows his stuff and is very passionate about it when I talked to him about my coloured stone ring project.
Oh, how exciting! You certainly should start a new thread otherwise its going to be buried in here which I find its such a pity!!Date: 10/13/2009 10:51:47 AM

It’s nothing secret. In fact, I’m in need of help which I really should start a new post about it.![]()
Possibility 1:
Hot pink baguettes set north/south flanking the cushion tsavorite. The problem is that I can’t find any hot pink 5x3 mm or 5x3 mm baguette sapphires.
Possibility 2:
Need a design for the Mahenge pear. It’s either going to have diamond baguettes sides, diamond shield sides, or diamond melees in the shank (maybe split shank). I don’t want any more halos since the pear is 12 x 8 mm and I don’t have much finger real estate with a size 4.5 finger.

Well, yes and no; I didn’t make any announcement about my getting the Mahenge pear because it was under consideration for a few days after I received it. Since it is a keeper, I’ll start a new thread soon. Yes, it is indeed that Mahenge pear from Swala and it is gorgeous. Disappointed? Were you planning to buy it? I like that tsavorite pear too; a bright stone with nice colour. Swala is a very dangerous place for us coloured stoners. BTW, what stone on Pala do you have your eye on? Or is it still too early to share (beware the lurking eyes)?
Hey Chrono, we could share a thread! I want to set my new carré cut tsav and have been thinking about coloured sides. I just worry about the colour combo being too limiting. Of course this is coming from a gal whose wardrobe is predominantly black and lime green!Date: 10/13/2009 10:51:47 AM

It's a pity I'm not on my laptop right now, otherwise I would post you a link to a site that specialises in diamond sidestones. The name of it is on the tip of my toungue and I've posted a link before. I'll see if I can't trawl it up.
12 x 8mm is some pretty fearsome finger estate. Unless that is you are 8ft tall with corresponding dannies!
I guess I have a few new things to announce! As it''s snowing outside (yes, we have over an inch right now), I''ll go get the camera out and practice. Got my new BGD to announce as well.Date: 10/13/2009 2:32:50 PM

With blacks and greens wardrobe, you can add lots of colors to brighten up! Heres an example.....
ETA: Chrono, I am starting to like the color combo now!!![]()

I don’t know. I have not considered Eric at this point but I may if my search remains unfruitful. Several cutters/vendors have already replied that they either do not have the hot pink colour or not the right size/matched pair.Date: 10/13/2009 2:35:35 PM

Chrono, if you are set for hot pink baguettes, don''t you think Eric will cut that for you to size? Just a thought!

Hey Gailey,
I read that you were considering coloured sidestones for your new Gene tsavorite. I figured that while diamond sidestones for a coloured center stone is classic, I want to be a little different. Going with a 3 stone design is still traditional but the splash of colour can really make the tsavorite pop! I’ve seen some very high end jewellery house do this as well with their 3 stones settings. The name escapes me at the moment but I recall reading a thread about it, complete with pictures.
Yes, I’m going for very large stones now for fear of the shrinkage syndrome.![]()

Gailey,
Do you live in the mountains or in Canada? Boy, an inch of snow in early October!![]()
It was over 90 degrees here today maybe 93. And humid. I bet we broke a record. I would love some cool weather. Enjoy it!Date: 10/13/2009 2:57:27 PM

Yes, I kid you not - SNOW!!!!!!!
I''ll post a pic in hangout later on. It''s nice to be able to stay home from work, but I got bulbs that need to be planted and leaves to rake. I thought it was too damned early in November last year. This is just taking the ..........

Actually, I spied that Mahenge at the beginning of the year. Harriet was considering it but decided she had to go over the 5 ct mark, so once she “released” the Mahenge, I decided it’s fair game now. The original picture wasn’t very complimentary: it didn’t show the glow well so I requested better pictures, hence it showed up in the first page of Swala for a while. It was otherwise hidden in the back pages, languishing unappreciated.
Yes, the stone snatcher is a prime reason I don’t post stones I’m interested in until after I have it on HOLD! To be fair though, most “stone snatchers” I know have also been looking at the same stone for days/weeks/months and seeing it posted in the forum is the nudge/wake-up call to open their wallets. As I recall, I was eyeing John Dyer’s blue green Afghan trillion tourmaline and posted it on PS, which jolted the PS poster who saw it before I did into buying it.
Yes, to both, Mountains and Canada. I don''t actually have a mountain view (got a lake instead), but I bet Sharon does. And to think it was over 30°C two weeks ago, this is just silly.Date: 10/13/2009 3:07:54 PM
