So far I have outgrown almost all of my clothes without gaining a pound, deodorant doesn''t seem to be working as well, hair is growing in random places (belly, chin), and I have more gas than I thought was possible. Please tell me this is normal.
HA HA omg this made me laugh in a scared way...esp when Tacori said it was normal. yikes...so this is what us ''maybe'' eventuals have to look fwd to.

More later...but I wanted to say Congrats Lili!!!!!!!!!!

As for heightened sense of smell...I personally find pregancy pretty funny. Your sense of smell goes through the roof...and so does the farting. Does anyone else find this ironic?

Rebot, as of last week, I had lost one pound from my pre-preg weight, but my clothes are finally tight this week. I think because I have been eating well and walking, I must have lost weight in other parts, but the belly and boobs are growing.

As for the rest, not normal for me. No hairy problems yet, and I don''t use deodorant so I can''t say much there. No, it''s not a granola, tree hugger thing...lots of asian women do not use deodorant because we just don''t get BO. I have asked my husband to make sure, and he says he has never "smelled" me. Knock on wood.

Oh Mara, I''ve said it before. Pregnancy ain''t beautiful! My body is no longer my own. The hormones take their toll for sure. Hopefully everything will all go back to normal once the baby is born. If you look at a side view of your body pre-preggo and while preggo it helps understand. Not much room in there. I think that is what makes the gas/heart burn/burping...worse. Jenny McCarthy (sp?) talked about it in her book "belly laughs." She said preggo gas is strong enough to knock a grown man on his feet. So funny...but true

I must be lucky, because excess gas, hemmoriods, stretchmarks, varicose veins, etc are not pregnancy problems with me. My hands & feet didn''t swell either. (my ring size went up about a half..making my thick wring uncomfortable, but that was it).

Now, I got hit with KILLER HEARTBURN. (thank God for Prilosec...that killed it...I''m happy now) I also get backaches, SI joint pain, and extra hair growth on my face (I had to get my WHOLE face waxed last time). But...the hair on my armpits, legs & bikini line quit growing. which is good, cuz its getting hard to reach them.

Carseat configuration: Well just wait till you have 2 kids & then you have to put each kid on one side and no one gets the middle (can''t safely put 2 carseats next to one another). Just get a decent carseat with side impact protection....and yes, even the cheaper ones protect as well as the spendy ones...they all have to pass the same JPMA requirements. Just check Consumer Reports for recalls/bad crash testing ratings. Also, even though all cars newer than 2003 are equipped with latch, securing the carseat with the seatbelt is still safer. You just have to use a locking clip if your car''s seatbelt has a shoulder belt. I got mine installed by nationally certified techs at our local baby superstore (not a chain retailer). They also use pool noodles to get the angle of the Graco Snugride (same thing as the chicco or peg perego carseats that come with stroller travel systems) correct for safe positioning. I''ve had to un-install & reinstall my carseat so many times, I could be a tech myself. LOL. You should me all pregnant, in the carseat with my knee bearing down for leverage, rocking it back and forth....as long as it can''t move more than 1 inch side to side, its good. Mine don''t move at all.

You can find a NHTSA certified carseat technician at this website here: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cps/contacts/index.cfm

Best to get them installed professionally at first, and REALLY pay attention. You will have to take your seats out at some point in time (like when your kid pukes all over it & it HAS to be hosed off and scrubbed down)

Ok...I need to go to the store..I want a treat. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

mara, don't freak out too much. all of those normal pregnancy stuff didn't happen to me and i'm on baby #3, although it's still early I guess. the worst was just the heartburn towards the end of pregnancy #2 which is why i'm enjoying all my spicy food now while i still can. I'm almost 9 1/2 weeks and still wear all my clothes, my paige's even still fit, although they are low rise so my belly pouches out a bit above the belt line, but with a cute babydoll shirt it still doesn't look like i'm preggo. you're so fit and healthy you will probably do just fine. plus you're taller so i bet you end up looking like you've got a basketball under your shirt and don't gain any weight anywhere else.

i haven't read jenny mccarthy's book but will pick it up next time i'm at target. i've heard it's just hilarious...

oh and i think my ring size went down after my first and i wore my rings though my whole pregnancy's and even during delivery (this was during the time i wore them 24/7 so it didn't occur to me to remove them. i was sized in the summer though so it could have been off from the beginning but my original set was a 4 and now i'm a solid 3 1/2. my shoe size remained the same too..

MrsS, now Mara will want to have a kid for sure if it means her finger size will go down! Haha!

Obviously everyone is different just as every pregnancy. Even through it all (and I haven''t had *that* bad of a pregnancy) I would do it all again in a second for a child. But it IS fun to complain
12.gif
Her book is very honest and very funny. A very fast read too. I think I read it in one or two days. She got basically EVERY symptom you could. One thing I haven''t had touble with is being moody. I have been surprisingly stable. Also no varicose/spider veins or hemmoriods yet anyways. I am not leaking yet either which I am not sure is good or bad.

Diver, thanks for the link. I guess I should get it installed in a few weeks. I know we got a safe one so I am not worried about that. The middle seat thing just surprised me.

Njc, how was your shower?

Question for third trimester mommies....anyone else feel like they have been preggo FOREVER?!? I seriously feel like it has been years. I posted a pic over in BWW and I was surprised to see I had a waist

I almost forgot but I got the latest edition of Consumer Reports and this month they had the safest car seats listed. Just an fyi. This is from the Oct issue.

Infant Car Seats
No. 1 Chicco KeyFit for $160
No. 2 Britax Companion $200
No. 3 Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP $220
No. 4 Baby Trend Flex Loc Adj Back $90
No. 5 Compass 1410 $130
No. 6 Graco SnugRide w/EPS $90

Consumer Reports liked number 1 Chicco because it is super easy to install and use and number 4 Baby Trend because it was a good buy and faired good on ease of use and scored well on fit for vehicle. This was a list of top 11 car seats for infants; I am too lazy to type out the whole list but they all pass on crash protection.

Hope that is helpful to you sweet mommies

ROTFLMAO!!! That is the funniest darn thing I''ve read in awhile and TOO TRUE! Tacori gotcha Mara!
2.gif
hee hee....*still giggling* (funny thing is, I''d kill for Mara''s lovely hands! well maybe kill is a strong word...but definitely maim.)

Tacori: yeah the danger is more in the side impact. The carseats are secure enough NOT to go flying through the windshield. And you''ll notice when you install yours, that the part that rests on the front edge of the seat does not attach to anything & lifts up easily. This was explained as neccessary to me by the carseat tech as it allows it to move so that the infants neck is protected. Thought you''d like to know...cuz it FREAKED me out. LOL.

Mrs. S: Did you not the have mirrors that attach to your backseat headrests so you can see baby in backwards carseat with your girls? I''d die without mine--you can see what they are crying about. Target has some nice plain ones by Eddie Bauer for $12. Plus, that one is cool because if youdon''t have a headrest, it comes with some cool things to install it to the back windshield or backseat.

Hello lovely preggo girls! Just jealously checking in on everyone.... but also to share DH's funny/sweet observation from yesterday:

We were driving home from a family wedding weekend talking about babies and such, and he asked when I was going to go off BC. I mentioned that some women need time to regulate their cycles, which led into an explanation of how our bodies work in general... how BC mimics pregnancy which stops ovulation, but what goes on down there each month otherwise, and what goes on when pregnant, and then how breastfeeding can even act as BC (although only 98% effective at best!).

He listened intently for a while as we drove, then finally turned to me in awe and said, "Wow... your body is AMAZING!!"

Hehe... I thought all you women growing babies might appreciate the reminder.

Wow, lots to catch up on!

First, congrats Lili -- welcome to the club!! Great story, and I wish you the best of luck and a healthy pregnancy!!

Tgal, re: "As for heightened sense of smell...I personally find pregancy pretty funny. Your sense of smell goes through the roof...and so does the farting. Does anyone else find this ironic?" -- OMG, you are too funny! I read that out loud to hubby, and we were both cracking up! (I wasn''t laughing so hard a few hours later when I was doubled over with gas pains though!)

Tacori, we haven''t chosen fabric yet for our chair. I had to order my nursing pillow online (not sold in stores unfortuantely), so once I get that we''ll go back to the store so I can make sure that we (me, two babies, and a pillow) can all fit comfortably in the chair before we order it. If not, then I guess we make an investment and buy a loveseat -- yikes!

ephem, sweet hubby! Our bodies ARE amazing, and it''s great when guys can appreciate that too. If he feels this way now, then just wait till he sees your first u/s or feels the babies kicking! You''ll be on a pedestal
2.gif

Skippy, thanks for the car seat info! We registered for the Graco SnugRides, so I feel good about that.

Yes, Belly Laughs is pretty funny and it will definitely make you feel better about your pregnancy becuase like Tacori said, poor Jenny M got every symptom you could imagine!! As for me, I didn''t have any hair or skin problems, no morning sickness, no extra body hair, and no real sensitivity to food or smells. I did have gagging when brushing my teeth, sooooooore boobs, fatigue, leg pains, and gassy gassy gassy. Oh and that hemi. No heartburn or stretchmarks yet, but I suppose they''ve still got plenty of time to make their presence known. All in all, I''ve had it pretty good, and I''d do it again in a heartbeat if we decide we want more kids.

Eph--that''s sooo sweet and nice to hear! A lot of guys just think women''s bodies are scary and gross, so you have someone special!

It''s good to be remined that we ''are'' amazing--esp during pregnancy when there can be mixed emotions.
My DH is pretty cute too, he just can''t seem to get over the fact that i carry a little baby with me everywhere i go and that it is growing at such an amazing rate. Maybe it is b/c i have thought about having kids for years now and have read the books and know the basics that I am less ''taken'' by the idea (or maybe my sense of wonder is masked by nausea!) but it is nice to have a husband who does have that enthusiasm to give you a lift on down days.

Lilli: Congratulations, and I am so happy for you! Welcome & thank you for sharing your story...brought tears to my eyes.

Ephemery: Your DH is sweet...although, I feel compelled to warn you, bfing is not 98% effective as BC...ask my stepmom (who''s sons are 18 mos apart) & she was doing the pull out method in conjunction. LOL. I''ve known quite a few women who got pg while nursing. Most docs will tell you, if you don''t want to get pregnant in your childs first year or so, go on the progesterone only mini pill (safe while breastfeeding) or use some other barrier method of protection religiously while breastfeeding. My period returned exactly 28 days after Jake was born even though I was nursing him 8 to 10 times a day. Some women dont'' have it return until they quit nursing, but everyone is unique.

Can I just say I feel like an old fat man with a prostrate problem? hard to get up from a sitting position, I''m out of breath going up stairs, I can''t move very well, and I have to pee a teaspoon every 5 minutes...oy.

Wow! Congrats to all the new mommies to be!!! I am happy to see we have a good group moving forward since time is coming to an end for some of us!

You guys were also really chatty from the last time I checked in… everything is still crazy for me trying to get everything ready and keep up with work. GAH… I will be happy to have 3 months “off”!!!!

Shower was great! I got lots and lots and lots of clothes, which is what I expected. I have resisted buying any knowing this would happen. Only got a few blankets, not 20 like Tacori, so I guess that’s good! The only “big” things I got were a My Brest Friend, booster seat, monitor and our stroller. I got a Bumbo seat and a Boppy even though I didn’t register for them. I am excited about the Bumbo and happy to have the Boppy so I can have 2 BFing pillows. But like I said, I expected all the clothes and don’t mind having to go out and buy the other (car seat, PnP, bottles, etc). We tried to buy the car seat yesterday, but the store didn’t have it! My mom is coming up Thursday to go to my doctors appt with me (shes been trying to come to one the whole time!) and I want us to sit down and go through everything I have and see what I still really need.

Since it was mentioned, we are getting the new Chicco KeyFit 30 carseat and the Trevi stroller vs the Cortina. Its 7 lbs lighter and has an umbrella fold vs the big bulky book fold. DH has a Ford Escort, so we needed something that would fit in his car! The Peg P3 Aria will take the KeyFit and lots of other car seats as well if someone is interested. We just didn’t like the look of it!

Started my weekly appts last week. Had my GBS test done and was checked for the first time… my cervix is soft and fingertip, so not much going on, but its getting ready… cant wait to see what it may change to this week!

Diver – I have gotten the really bad crampy type contractions…. I asked about them and they said there were still BHs and that I needed to drink more water. There is a new moon tomorrow night… the full moon is at the end of the month (26th) I hope it doesn’t pull me in, I wont mind the couple extra days!

More helpful hints from Diver (because I just can''t help myself and I think I was a boyscout in a previous life-sorry!)...I just ordered 12 meals from our local dinner service place (they have locations all over the us) www.dinnersdoneright.com These types of places are all over the country..I highly recommend them for new moms!

I''ve been a customer for 2 years now, and the owners sent me a congrats card & a coupon for free pickup service (normally you go in and assemble the meals yourself--but for an extra $30 they put it together for you, so I got a coupon for that service). its a great idea, because you do not want to cook after a baby, and you also get sick of fast food/takeout. My local MOMS club also does 2 weeks of meals for new moms (every other night) and I am signing up for that as well.

Another good thing to do is bake up some quickbreads...Zucchini, banana, pumpkin, cranberry, whatever floats your boat. I have 7 loaves in the freezer right now. My recipes are all WW or Cooking Light, and we lived on them after Jake. Just nuke a slice for 30 seconds, put some butter (substitute) on it, a piece of fruit, and you have a hearty breakfast or snack that feels good. I''m baking more today. I wish I lived near you guys, I''d make you all some!!! (and I am not a baker at all...but quickbreads are easy & cheap to make).

Ellaila: I loved your rundown of baby shopping yesterday! How fun to have it all come together like that. IKEA is great for stuff like dressers. I can''t wait to see pics, it sounds like it will be really cute.

Tacori: Only 7 weeks for you! WOW! You are not far behind me. Exciting! My dad loves the Simpsons, so he got a kick out of your Homer Belly analogy. He''s laughing about that one now.

No more new contractions for me....we''ll see on my dr''s appt. on Thursday if they did anymore "work" down there--I hope so! 2-4-6-8, C''mon cervix DILATE!!!!! I am being examined by the OB who will be delivering me. Good to get an exam with the new doc, I met her last week--but it was sitting in her office...but its nice to establish something of a rapport with her before the big day.

Well, I''ll be off most of today, I have a ton of stuff to do & Jake is sitting here being VERY cuddly & we need to go to Trader Joes, then get his hair cut, and go to the park and play. Its weird, he''s been super clingy with me lately. I leave his line of sight and he SOBS. I hope he does ok when I go to the hospital...he''s used to spending the night at my parent''s house without us...I''ve gone on a week vacation without him before, just spent 3 days at the beach last month & he was fine. I think he''s starting to understand. We looked at his baby pictures last night & I was telling him about when he was born (total condensed version, he''s too little for anything other than "here you are in mommy''s tummy, and here you are when they gave you to me, look how little your nose is!! That''s your cute nose baby") and he got upset at the hospital pics. He knows what one is, between his trip to the ER last month & visiting my aunt a few times last month when she had her heart attack, he''s aware of them now. But we made the trips upbeat as possible.

big hugs to all the new mommas!!!

Tacori, how is it that you were able to see the doctor that soon? My first confirmation appointment wasn''t until I''d be 13 weeks. I basically called in and have them rescheduled me so that I can confirm that the baby is there at 9wks. I was a bit skeptical that I was pregnant just because I wasn''t getting any of the pregnancy symptoms that you ladies have complained about -- nausea, fatique, and sore boobs. Hehe, I probably shouldn''t be saying that too loud
3.gif

Thanks Curly. I plan to. I hope the rest of the pregnancy is as easy as it''s been. And I hope that I can be as fit as you were with your Lily. This probably means that I should get off my lazy butt and do some exercise. I haven''t done any since I entered the work force...ugh. Please post more pix of your Lily when you get a chance. She''s the cutest things. Love those big round eyes.

Diver, it''s amazing how many pregnancy that we''ve followed through in a course of one year. I remembered when you first came on announcing your pregnancy. Just a few more days huh? Everyone is on pins and needle waiting for the arrival of Delaney. Oh right, I kept forgetting to comment on your Jake. He''s got the cutest pout I''ve seen.

Thank you Momma. After 3.5 years, I was at a point where I''d come to accept that I could be happy just being an auntie. It was just so frustrating when I get my AF month after months. Fortunately, modern medicine is able to help. I hope your nausea have subsided. I was very fortunate not to have any bout with it.

TravelingGal, your posts always bring a smile to my face. They are so funny and honest. I always think of Jenny McCarthy''s Belly Laughs ( a book on her take on her pregnancy experience). I agreed with Tacori, the funniest read ever. She so brutally honest about her experience. I feel bad for her though because she had just about every pregnancy symptoms there are.

Tacori, thank you for the welcome. I''m very happy to be in such good company as you ladies. I love your belly shots. Hope to see more of it.

Oh I forgot to ask.
Anyone here has taken the gestational diabetes test yet?
I''m scheduled for one this week.
They say to fast for 3 hours. Does that include no water intake?

Lili, your test seems really early to me -- I'm due much earlier than you (January), and my test is next week when I'll be 25 weeks. And I was told that my test is actually on the earlier side because we're having twins, and they like to do all tests a little earlier -- I think normally the GD test is done around 24-28 weeks? Is there a particular reason your doctor is doing it so early?

Also, my doctor told me no food after midnight (my test is at 9 am) but water is OK -- and others have told me too that even if they tell you it's OK to eat, DON'T DO IT! Everyone I know that ate the morning of the test failed the one-hour!

That said, it's probably better for someone who's actually taken the test to weigh in

ellaila and Mrs.S, i''ll be 10 weeks when I go in this week. I know, that''s what I thought to. I read in various sites that the test is usually done at the midway point. Perhaps it is how this hospital (Kaiser) is doing it. The doctor said that I''ll have to do 2 GD tests. One is this week and the next one will be later on at the time that you both said.

NOOOOOO! Don''t fall for that lie (I mean myth). BF is NOT meant to act as BC. I have heard you are MORE fertile. So unless you want Irish twins I would use a better method. Very cute that he is interested.

Lili, that is so early to have a GD test. Are you high risk? I had mine at 24 weeks (I think) I posted about it. I was so nervous but it was FINE. I did eat (well, fasted for a few hours before but ate normal before that). You CAN drink water just no gum or mints. I passed with lots of room to spare which was a relief b/c I heart carbs. I got preggo around 1.20.07, got my first positive 2.17.07 (which was a saturday I think) and went to the doctor that monday. I called and they told me to come on in to confirm it. I got a *faint* positive at the doc''s office so I had to do the blood test to confirm. It was a stressful few days not knowing what was going on. She said I was really early or having a m/c. Turns out I just tested REALLY early so all was fine. I had my first u/s at 6 1/2 weeks since there was no way to date my pregnancy (irregular periods from going off BC). Then I went to the doc every 4 weeks until recently, now I go every 2. Soon I will go weekly
6.gif

Diver, I wished you lived close too! I would trade a painting for food
3.gif
Sounds like you are doing well. The Homer belly is in full force today! Seriously am worried what it will look like 7 weeks from now. Jake must sense the change that is about to happen. What a sweet boy he sounds like.

Njc, glad you had a good shower. We have the Cortina (sp?) stroller. Now you''ve got me worried! I got a bumbo by surprise too but was happy. What color is yours? I am still waiting to see nursery pics! Little boy clothes have gotten so cute. Have you settled on a name yet?

Ella, Hopefully you will all fit! I was thinking a soft yellow for the walls would look really pretty with your green/purple sheets.

***Question about kicking....is it normal for them to be uncomfortable and a little painful? I know my baby is getting bigger/stronger but some of them seriously are uncomfortable. Maybe it has more leverage in the breech position. Last night it got really bad I was convinced it flipped but no, started head butting me the little bugger. DH was getting a kick out of it (no pun intended). He said they were playing a game. Baby would kick/push and DH would push back. So then baby would kick/push again. It was kind of funny. My dad told me all the women in Brazil choose to have a c-section so their hips don''t "pop." He is such a strange man. He laughed when I told him about the exercises but said I might as well try. We have our BF class tomorow. Tour on Wednesday and we decided to sign up for infant CPR/Caring for Baby class at the end of the month. That was is free so we figured we might as well.

Funny story....DH has been dieting/running and has lost 30 lbs in the past 3 months or so.
36.gif
but he likes to have a cheat day (or two) a week which I encourage. Anyways last night he said he might go to the store for a craving b/c I guess we didn''t have what he wanted. I asked him what he was craving and he got defensive and said I wouldn''t understand.
20.gif
38.gif
"You are telling a pregnant woman that SHE doesn''t UNDERSTAND cravings????!!!???" Silly man!

lili - I had to take 2 GD tests... one at my first appt (9 weeks) and then the one at 25 weeks or whenever they normally do it. I was told I had to take the first one because it was standard office policy because my starting weight was over 200 lbs.
20.gif
Nevermind that my starting weight was just barely over (207) and that I am 6ft tall and solid (unfortunately, not one of those stick model types!)... its not like I am 5''3" weighing that much, which is probably why the policy is in place. I was a little peeved, but oh well, I''m over it now and felt like sticking my tongue out at the doc both times.

Neither of my tests were the fasting type though... just drink the orange liquid and get blood drawn after an hour. I had breakfast the morning of and had no problems, although they did tell me to avoid carbs and sugar (duh) so I had 2 hard boiled eggs!

Diver - I went to a place called "Let''s Dish" which sounds like the one you used. I like the idea of the quick breads too... they are easy enough to make!

Diver, I just love your helpful hints! I should actually just start copying and pasting all the good advice I see here into one document, so that 5 months from now I'm not sitting here saying to myself "Was that on page 58 or 64?"

Eph, kudos to your man. I'm pretty sure TGuy is not seeing my body as amazing right now, except for the sounds and smells it's producing. Alas for me, TGuy has decided to have "sympathy" gas. And let me tell you, the only thing I have sympathy for is my poor little nose. I'm constant jerking up into an alert position (like a dog) as my nose twiches left and right. TGuy doesn't even pay attention anymore when I ask "what's that smell?" EVERYTHING just smells! You know when you hurt your back and you tense up as you're about to sneeze because you know it's going to hurt? I brace myself in the same way every time I pass gas.

But enough bathroom humor. I've seriously had an easy first trimester. Morning sickness (what I had of it) is pretty much gone. I did read a couple of excerpts of Jenny M's book, but decided to pass on buying it. The chapters are too short and I read more amusing things on this thread.

Oh, and I'm happy to report, BLOBBY IS GONE! Just a baby that looks like...well, a baby! It definitely felt more real today and I felt immediately remorseful that I was only thinking of giving it staplers, scissors and office supplies to play with. I'm a little more inclined to treat this "seriously" now. But only a little.

On top of seeing TTot, also received good news that the neck area is normal...they checked for thickness which may be a sign of down's. One more appointment to go tomorrow.

Lili, thanks for the compliment. I am just about to get into week 12 and no one has mentioned a GD test yet. I will let you know if that changes tomorrow, but from everything I've read, that happens when the other gals here are saying it does.

Thanks for the carseat list Skippy. Since that is definitely the one thing I won't be skimping on, I'll keep the list in mind.

njc, sounds like everything is going well. And I think the Boppy and Bumbo would be very handy. My friend swears by her Bumbo. I am actually pretty impressed with the thing, except that I really don't appreciate makers of these items forcing us to say "Boppy" and "Bumbo."

And my bet is that Mara will be preggo within two years. She'll see some cute baby bling and realize she's ready.

Tacori - I have had extremly uncomfy kicks/punches... all over! Some are to my bladder and cervix (some so bad about a week ago they woke me from a solid sleep! I think thats when he turned... felt like he was going to shoot out of there!) and tons to my right ribs... it is SO sore right there now... I always have to push him away.

What worries you about the stroller? The cortina is a good too, I just didnt want a bulky thing that I would stop using in 4 months (this is coming from watching my mom struggle with my neice). I posted about not even getting a big stroller a while back and just waiting until baby could fit in one of the nice umbrellas like a Maclaren. Then I found the Trevi and Peg P3 Aria.

Our Bumbo is blue of course!

I''m going to puke blue before this is all over I am sure!

The person who got it for me has a 6 mos old and says they use it everywhere including restaurants! That night DH and I, my parents and his parents all went out to eat (big deal since we are all states apart) and there was a little 4-5 month old baby hanging out in their Bumbo on top of the table... my mom and MIL just went off about how much has changed! The boys clothes are cute... I love the puppy stuff. Everything I got is either sports, a puppy or a bear! HA!

No nursery pics... charger cord is MIA big time... we may have to order a new one.

Name is still up in the air as well, but Jonathan William hasnt been removed from the lead, so who knows!

njc, my brother is named Jonathan and he is a great guy so I think it is a wonderful name! Our bumbo is lime green. I am not sure I would bring it to a restaurant though. The box says to keep it on the floor (for safety). I got one of those cushion things to go inside highchairs and shopping carts so we will use that instead. It is super cute. I am glad the painful kicks are normal. They just really caught me off guard. Baby was going CRAZY. I have been getting bladder and cervix kicks too. Not fun.

TGal, I know some of the names are so annoying! I have a boppy too (but I registered for it and can''t WAIT to use it). My mom tried to convince me a regular old pillow will do but I couldn''t resist. I am so glad the blob is gone! Any u/s photos to share?

I took an updated belly shot yesterday and I will post it once I transfer it to my computer. I am so lazy!

I''ll have to look up the full moons in October. How said I would be happy to go 9.26! I wish I could trade dates with you njc!

Okay, back to work for me. This tread is SUCH a distraction!

Yay to a great shower, njc!! I keep thinking back to baby showers I've been to and how I've almost always given a bunch of smaller items off the registry or clothes (and a handknit sweater usually) -- now that I'm pregnant and have more insight, I wish I had gone in with friends more and bought some of the bigger gifts, since that's what the parents really want! Oh well. I suppose it's all helpful, and any gift is appreciated of course!

Diver, now you have me totally craving pumpkin bread! Oh that just reminded me of this heavenly pumpkin bread pudding I made last Thanksgiving ... ohhhhh ... mmm, pumpkin. I love fall!! I think I'm going to have to make some pumpkin bread tonight. At least it's got lots of fiber, so I can feel good about eating it. RE: "2-4-6-8, C'mon cervix DILATE!!!!!" -- haha! B/c I've seen your maternity portraits, I now have an image of you cheering that on the beach wearing that white gauzey outfit! Hahaha

Tacori, we're thinking either a very soft creamy yellow too or to see if PB actually has a green paint that would match that bedding. We originally wanted to do green anyway, so I think that as long as we could get one that matches *perfectly* that'd look nice. And then maybe we could just go with a few more of the lavender accents to tie it all together. I hope it's not pukey-looking when it's all said and done ... I'm starting to get nervous that I'm going overboard!

Re: kicking, I remember someone here talking about how it felt like an alien trying to crawl its way out of her body

so I think that it's probably pretty normal for them to get uncomfortable and painful as they get bigger but their space doesn't! I'm still in the "Aww, a kick!!" phase, but am trying to prepare myself for some serious discomfort down the road! Your hips pop during labor? What does that mean exactly?! I thought they expand way before labor, no? So much to learn in just 40 short weeks!

So the dress that I thought fit me OK for the upcoming wedding this weekend ... well, somehow it wound up getting too short and too tight on me. But I found the cutest black dress at Destination Maternity this weekend -- and for just $35!! And since I refuse to buy new shoes right now, I'm going to squish my feet into a current pair -- either that or I'm wearing black Danskos or flip flops! It's crazy how often you have to buy new clothes. I've basically been the same size my whole adult life, so buying clothes was more something I did because I *wanted* to, not because I had to. And while the former is fun, the latter is not so fun! (Well, sometimes it is

ETA: wow, so many posts while I was writing this one! TGal, whoo hoo on a great appt! Scoring well on that nuchal fold test is a big relief, isn't it? So because that went well, do you think that you now won't do an amnio?

According to my dad (though he COULD be lying to make me feel better about a c-section but he is a doctor so...I don''t know. He has seen a million births) your hips do a final pop once the baby moves down the birth canal. I already have birthing hips (I feel) so if it is true maybe a c-section wouldn''t be so bad
2.gif
DH doesn''t want me to have one b/c of the longer recovery time. But it is obviously NOT up to me. As long as it is not an emergency c-section (where they cut you down the middle) I am ok. The normal ones are only a 4" cut really, really low. The teacher said you could still wear a bikini (not that I am too worried about that right now). Only time will tell.

I couldn''t sleep last night Ella so how funny I was thinking about YOUR nursery. I still think yellow would look awesome (not too matchy) though I shouldn''t talk since my nursery is pretty matchy matchy.

Tgal, so cool your appt. went well. my next one is next monday and i don''t know if they will do another ultrasound. i plan to ask though b/c i''d love to see the baby again and for them to check the measurements too and do the nuchal skin fold test, if they even do it at my dr''s office. i did read they do it b/t 11 and 14 weeks and i won''t quite be at 11 so it many not matter this next visit.

re: the bobby, i used mine all the time with my first but not once with my second..don''t know why, i just didn''t. but i do remember loving it first time around..

so my new love is tangerine altoids..i love the sour beginning and then the taste of yummy tangerine, helps the quesy tummy a bit too...

thanks njc. i think it's probably just standard hospital practice. i'm not too concerned that i have to do this extra test. if i do have gd, it's probably best that they catch it early. although i have to say that i don't enjoy being pricked with a needle. gosh, my forearm is like a pin cushion. i've been poked at so many times i can't even keep track.

Tgal, so glad your blob is gone. good luck on your next test.

ok, stupid question here. being that i am not your typical female who likes to shop. what is a bumbo?
