tacori--CONGRATS!!!! i know i''m a little late, but i am so excited for you!

i am now 14 weeks along. i never had any morning sickness, I was exhausted the first 10 weeks, good thing I''m not working, i literally spent my days napping! I''m doing better now, making it back to the gym and started swimming laps!

I had my first trimester screening last week, and the ultrasound tech said it was too early to confirm but she would be SHOCKED if it wasnt a boy! we definately are not keeping the gender a secret. i''m not nearly that patient, and for us its just as special whenever we find out, doesnt have to be at birth!! I also had switched from my old OBGYN to the midwives at UCLA. i am really excited about the care! thats the pregnancy news here!

It''s never too late! Thank you. I feel lucky that it happened so quickly. I have been VERY tired as well. I feel sick off and on but never vomited or anything. Just more of a ''crappy'' feeling. I tell DH making a baby is HARD work. How exciting about your little boy! Have you thought of names yet? I am sure your u/s was much more interesting than ours. The baby was literally a blob. We are going with an OBGYN but I have heard many people so happy with their midwives. Both my dad and FIL are docs so I don''t think I am *allowed* to go with a midwife. Keep us updated!
Tacori, shut UP! Congratulations, I''m so happy for you! I am a bit shocked...just happened to look up this thread to post something else, and here you are all preggers, you! So, does Vera make a child size place setting in the Grosgrain pattern, lol?! Ha! She should, if she doesn''t! Anyway, very happy for you and wish you nothing but the best throughout your pregnancy and after!

So I was originally visiting this thread to say Dh and I are putting off baby making until I go through a little mouth remodeling surgery...and to let you know that I watched "Tori and Dean in Love" tonight and it was so cute! Tori Spelling seems so down to earth on her new reality show and he''s whatever but i still enjoyed watching it and thought of all my pg friends and PSr''s while watching. Makes me want a baby even more...but it will come in time for us, we are just at that stage of taking care of some things before starting a family! Best of luck to all of you...it''s always fun to read this thread but sometimes I have to stay far, far away to avoid the baby pangs.

hello ladies! Well, i am now approaching week 36 and the clock has officially started ticking and the countdown has begun
9.gif

Of course as excited as I am preparing my hospital bag and getting the nursery all sorted and the baby clothes all washed and ready, i''m getting just as nervous about the ''d day''...!! I''m just hoping that it takes me by surprise (i.e. i deliver earlier than my due date) so i dont have to stress out so much as my due date gets closer..hehehe..

So to all the ladies who are pregnant (and those trying), i wish u all the best and i tell u ENJOY every minute of it coz i sure did! I had a very good 1st/2nd and 3rd trimester and now as i approach the end my ''belly'' has popped quite a bit, but my husband is in love with it and thinks its the most beautiful thing he has ever seen..he''s so adorable..(oh, and trust me u can get SOOO creative in ur clothing and making use of ur old clothes (for ex. im wearing my pre-pregnancy size 6 trousers today! (with a bit of creativity of course to keep it in place ;-) )..so keep an open mind, be creative and dont get down on the limited ''maternity'' styles out there. i have become a very big fan of layering and cardigans, they do the body wonders!)

Wish you all the best!! Though i haven''t been posting much, i have been following everyone''s story on all threads, and if u see me disappear for a while, i guess u''ll know why :)

Kaleigh - The hearbeat was awesome... i could have sat there all day listening! I agree knowing boy or girl will help a lot with preparing. It is really hard to find nuetral things these days since everyone finds out! I feel like a groupie or something for finding out, but know it will be a big help. We are sure to fight over a name for several weeks!

Curlygirl - Oh wow... you are totally in the homestrech with MSB! I know you have got to be antsy about getting everything, but hopefully your shower will be good! Wow, more power to you for the baby in the one bedroom! That is fantastic.

Monarch - Good luck with the mouth surgery and waiting!

MSB - Good luck with everything in the next couple of weeks, I am sure you will be fine!!! Awesome about being able to work your nonmaternity things so well. I have been enjoying caridgans as well, but with the weather warming up, its not as easy. Glad your hubby is being so wonderful!

It''s so exciting to read about so many PS''ers pregnancies here. Hope all goes to you all. As for the clothes, for me, this is the time to enjoy wearing hubby''s clothes; they are roomier and I love the cottony softness of his sweaters.

MSB, wishing you an early and easy delivery. Don''t forget extra socks and lip balm. Also, bring along at least a comb or something to freshen up right after delivery because that''s when most hubbies are trigger happy with the camera and we new mothers tend to look like we''ve just finished the Boston marathon. Well, we certainly would feel like it but deserve to at least appear looking a little nicer.

I can''t believe I only have 6 weeks to go if this girl is on time--although as a first baby, I''m guessing she may be late. My shower is not for another week (sooo late, but I didn''t have anything to do with that) so I guess I''ll just have to wait and see what I get. Fortunately we live in a one bedroom apartment so we don''t have to get a nursery all set up. She''ll stay in our room in the beginning and then we may put up a wall in our dining area for her. Who says you can''t have a baby in a one bedroom?!
emwink.gif

Congratulations to all the new moms to be.

My daughter was born 5 weeks early, and so was I. My shower was a month before her due date, so she showed up for her shower.

njc, how exciting you got to hear your babies heart. I had my first prenatal visit today and he said I wasn''t far enough along to use the doppler. We already heard it on our u/s so I wasn''t too disappointed. I have been pretty sick this week so I am SOOOO looking forward to my 2nd trimester. Finding out the sex will make naming MUCH easier. We have a LONG way to go to agree on a girl''s name. Good thing I am only 25% through.

Curly, I can''t believe you are almost due! I just know your little girl is going to be beautiful. I am looking forward to my 2nd u/s as well since our first one was done at 6 weeks and didn''t really look like ANYTHING. I am jealous she will be tiny. I am really scared about delivering a huge baby. I am sure either way I will be fine (in the end anyways).

Monarch, It was planned but I got pregnant the first month we tried so it still feels so unreal. It is a good idea to wait until after your dental work is done though! When is your surgery?

msb, I was 4 weeks early so really could go any day now! I actually am having good luck finding maternity styles. Baby doll shirts/dresses seem to be the style this summer.

Chrono, my husband is a foot taller than me so wearing his clothes just won''t work

It is a good idea though!

Tacori - I dont know how far you are, but I will warn you that my 11th week was hell! I had started to feel better, and thought it would keep up, but boy was I wrong! I spent more time on the bathroom floor that week than I did all of the previous weeks! I have read where this was true for many other ladies too. Good news... week 12 and 13 have been fabulous!

If you have a boy, will he be a jr?

Oh no! *sob* I am only in week 10! The ladies on my board said week 9 was bad for them too (since the placenta is forming and all) Hopefully I am on the road to feeling great. It hasn''t been THAT bad compared to many. I consider it a success since I have not vomitted once. I have WANTED to and thought I WOULD but hasn''t happened yet. Still I have my crappy moments. I know it will all be worth it in the end but it is tiring to feel so bad for so much of the day, EVERYDAY. Oh well. I can get through whatever this baby throws at me! Luckily I am self-employed so if I needed to stay in bed all day I can. We are going to vegas in a week in a half though so I hope I am feeling good by then. Otherwise that 4 hour flight will be horrible. Not the best timing but everything was booked before I became pregnant. On a positive note that is awesome you are feeling good! Gives me hope
2.gif
If we will have a boy he will not be a jr. We already decided on William (we will call him Will) to honor his late uncle and grandfather. Girl''s name....oh.....that might take us the ENTIRE next 7 months to decide. It is stressful! Have you come up with names yet?

I guess 9 was a little bad, but there must be an extra big hormone surge that comes with 11 because I was ill. And like you hadnt thrown up until then.

Good luck with the plane! We flew to Orlando when I was 8 weeks I think... take offs and landings made me queezy! I made sure the sick bag was easy to grab just in case!!! Also, drink extra water and remember you wont be able to take it with your past security, so you need to suck it up and buy it in the airport. Pain in the butt, but better than wasting a whole bottle when they throw it away for you.

We are so lazy... we havent done anything, but I did toss out the name William the other night for my uncle that died recently and DHs grandfather... how funny is that?! It wasnt agreed upon as a name, but more as a name that would be considered.

Have fun in Vegas!

Oh we both could have Williams!

I guess I will actually be in my 12th week when we go (11 weeks X days). I am going to think positive b/c I want to have fun. They will let you take water you buy *after* security on? I haven''t flown in awhile.

Tacori, I've flown a lot during this pregnancy and all I can recommend is to stay hydrated and get up and walk around on the plane at least once an hour which should be easy since you'll have to get up to pee all the time from drinnking so much water. Try to get an aisle seat so you don't have to climb over anyone.

Regarding the water thing, yes, it's ridiculous--you can't bring a bottle through security but you can buy one before you board and bring it on with you. If you have any other liquids that you plan on carrying on, including lotions, toothpaste, lip gloss, mascara, hand sanitizer, etc. make sure nothing is over 3 oz. and that it will all fit into a 1 quart size ziploc bag. Or if that's too much of a pain, just check everything through! I've had to carry on a lot so I know the drill and if you do it right, it's a piece of cake but I've seen so many people get busted and have to throw out all their toiletries.

Have fun in Vegas but be careful around those smoky casinos! I was just there 3 weeks ago (I know, I'm crazy to have flown across country at 32 weeks but it was for work and I upgraded to first class!), and the walking can be a little bit rough because everything is soooo huge and spread out. Bring comfy shoes and try to avoid all those smokers. It's tough there since people are smoking everywhere. But try to make the most of it, eat well, drink lots of water and have a great time!

Thanks curly! I always check everything (make-up, lotion, etc...) so I should be fine. I am kind of worried about the smokers. I guess there is not A LOT I can do put try to pick tables/slots kind of away from everyone else. We are not smokers nor am I EVER around second hand smoke so I am hoping a few days of it won''t hurt our baby. Kind of makes me feel like a bad mom (already) though

Oh well! You are crazy to fly so late! I am so excited for you & your DH to meet your little girl soon! I keep seeing the SWEETEST girl stuff. Do you have everything you need? She''ll be here before you know it!

Ok, I made it over here...wow, I swear, PS is like a small city...you have to wander around to find all the cool little cafes, hangouts etc. LOL.

Hi Tacori!

So....I''m Jeannine aka Divergrrl & I''m 15 &1/2 weeks pregnant (i thought I was 16, but then I realized I''m rushing myself ahead thinking of my dr appts next week).
This is baby #2.....my son Jake was born 12-21-04, so he''ll be ALMOST 3 when piglet gets here (year of the pig, my nickname for him/her). I was on progesterone supplements until 2 weeks ago due to having a couple miscarriages. I''m one of those. I get pregnant really easy, but I have a harder time keeping them, so I''m pleased to be in my 2nd trimester now. And off the progesterone...oooh that made me sick and cranky.

My nausea is almost all gone, but I have moments. I never threw up this time or last time, but would just go about my day green as could be.

I''ve got my genetic counseling appt & amnio on Monday (I''m 36 & have a cousin with downs) so I''m a little anxious...

Have a great day!

Glad you made it here Jeannine. I''m so happy to hear that you''re in your second trimester. I had an amnio with my second baby. Good luck with your genetic counseling appt and the amnio.

Welcome! I cannot WAIT to be in my 2nd Trimester. I''ll be 11 weeks on Sunday so I am not TOO far away. This is my first pregnancy so it is all uncharted waters. I am like you were. Green but not actually throwing up. I am still having cramping and am SO tired! Man, I really could sleep ALL DAY! Good luck with your genetic counseling & tests. I think a 3 year age gap is really great (my ideal). Keep us updated on everything!

Tacori, the girl stuff is insanely cute. I went crazy for a while and bought so much but now I''ve put myself on hold until she gets here! It''s so hard to control the urges to buy all these adorable things but I''m going to try to restrain myself for a little while longer! I''m in full nesting mode now so I just have lists on top of lists of all the things I still have to do or buy. It''s a bit overwhelming but it''ll get done eventually!

35.gif
Jeannine, glad you made it over here. I remember your last pregnancy and I''m sorry you had to go through that but congratulations on making it to the second trimester! I had an amnio and it was really a piece of cake--the anticipation and fear of the unknown are so much worse than the actual procedure. It''s over really fast and it''s not painful, just a little uncomfortable. I hope your doctor will do the FISH results so you''ll have answers the next day. I don''t know if I could have waited 2 weeks to get the results--I would go crazy. I hope everything goes smoothly and you learn that your baby is perfect. Are you going to find out the sex? Good luck with everything. Keep us posted!

Curlygirl: I hope they do FISH too! I''ll definitely request it!!! I hear the procedure itself isn''t so bad, very quick, virtually painless, and the ultrasound part is cool (aren''t they all? I wish I could have an ultrasound at every appt so I could see him/her)

I rented a doppler from www.babybeat.com so I can listen to little babe''s heartbeat when I want. I''ve only used it once, but I''m going to let DH listen tonight.

I am dying to know what I am having so I can start shopping/decorating! If its a boy, I''m going to have it easy, only need a few new things. But hooooooey, if its a girl...let the spree begin! LOL. Pink clothes...girl clothes...soooooooooooooo cute! I feel like this is a girl. Just a hunch, but I''ll be thrilled either way. I just want to know so I can stop AGONIZING over names. I swear, if its a boy, names are a non-issue. If its a girl, well, I have my work cut out for me. I''m such a boy mom...those things come easy to me.

Can I just say? I HATE MATERNITY PANTS? There, I feel better now.

Kaleigh: are you preggers too? Is this #3???

MSB: did you get your new benz yet? I can''t believe you are almost done! How exciting!

Ok...need a lime fruit bar....mmm...I''m all about citrus this time. Drank an entire carton of Newman''s Own Lemonade to myself last night. sheesh.

njc, I am due oct 28th but since my husband was a 10.5 lb baby
23.gif
she said she doubted they would let me go full term. I am not sure why they did one so early. I thought about just scanning in the pic to show you all but you really can''t see anything (with the untrained eye anyways) I won''t have another one to 18-20 weeks (probably). They did find a walnut sized cyst on my left ovary which won''t hurt the baby (they had to convince me) but they might do once sooner just to keep an eye on it. When do you get your first u/s?

jcrow, thanks hun! Congrats on your house too. You will love it! Can''t wait to do those baby announcements.
2.gif
I am sure njc has some ideas too.

Thanks mrssalvo and Dixie. It all happened so fast! We just started trying. We are thrilled.
36.gif
trying to catch up...tacori...how big were you when you were born? My dh was a 10.5 lb baby, my dad was over 11lbs (both verrrrry tall men) so my OB was worried. Yeah, well, out popped (literally, he was so easy to deliver) my 6lb 13oz LOOOONG scrawny pinhead of a baby. Ever since he''s been 9% percentile for weight, 5% for head, and 85% for height. LOL. Tall, cool, drink of water my Jake is.

I''ve read in a few places that babies tend to be the same birthweight as the mothers were....certainly my experience, (and my mom''s--my dad was huge! and 6''4" both my brother and I were just under 7lbs at full term & we are short now...go figure)

Also, my doc does early ultrasounds at around 7 weeks to accurately "date" the pregnancy & to relax us mommas. Once you see that heartbeat, your risks drop considerably. I''ve noticed that''s a pretty common practice in this region (Pacific NW). I have a picture that looks like a bean.
1.gif

Try to not worry about birthweight too much. Sorry about your cyst! I have 2 fibroids camped out with baby right now, one blocking my cervix....sooooo, if it grows (and it did between my 5wk & 7wk ultrasounds -- you get lots of ultrasounds if you are over 35 & a m/c patient) I will have to schedule a c-section because it''s blocking the exit route. Durnit!! I was hoping for another smooth delivery! Oh well....we have no control...and I''m thinking "shrink & go away" thoughts to my fibroid. You never know!

Ok, no more board hogging...just trying to read back & figure out who all is expecting! Amazing!

Haha, no I am not preggers!! I have an 19 year old and a 17 year old. Just started this thread for all the expectant mom''s. I didn''t have this sort of internet support when I was pregnant. And thought it would be a good thread to start, so you guys could share your stories and ask us experienced mom''s any questions.

re: the birthweight. my hubby was a 10.5 lb baby. I was a 5.6 lb baby. daughter #1 was 7.5 2 weeks early and daugther #2 was 8.9 and one week early. My doctor loves for nature to take it''s course so wouldn''t induce although I begged with my second even tried bribing him b/c her due date was the same week as Christmas.

Diver- I was only 5 lbs 11 oz but I was also 3 weeks early. I am not sure how much I would have grown in those last three weeks. Hopefully my baby will be somewhere in the middle. I might get another u/s if I have problems with my cyst (pain) but otherwise it will be the normal 18-20 week u/s. I haven''t had any problems yet with the cyst. They think it will shrink on its own when my hormones level out. I cannot even tell where the baby is in my early u/s. But we did hear the heartbeat and the tech said SHE could see the baby so that''s all that is important. I still worry though that something will happen. I really should stop reading the m/c posts on the m/c boards. They freak me out!!! He''ll use the doppler at my next appointment in a few weeks so that will make me feel better.

congratulations to all the new joiners and preggies (sorry i didn''t go thru the whole thread since i last posted!!)

divergrrl: Yes!! I did get the benz early last month, but i have been so busy with everything that i havent gotten a chance to post any pics!! I have so many new goodies i need to take pics off and post (The car, new prada bag, new LV bag, new Bottega Venetta wallet and card case) but no time!!

Oh and also, i''ve been quite busy house hunting (talk about the wrong timing to do that with a baby ready to ''pop'' out any minute)....well, the house we were renting, hoping to buy didn''t work out..the owner decided he didnt want to sell after all so my hubby has decided its high time we move out and start paying for something we actually own instead of rent and having that money basically go down the drain..after weeks of searching, we have finally found a perfect place! The best thing of all is that its a new house, recently built and the owner decided not to add any ''finishing'' touches as he wanted to leave that up to the buyer..so he has given us free reign on choosing the colors, tile/wooden flooring, windows, landscaping, kitchen cabinets/granite counters, lighting, etc etc but best of all is that HE will do all that for us (its all inclusive in the price of the house)..all i need to do is point at the pic and say ''i want this'' and off he goes! So hoping that all works out...he says if we get rolling now, it''ll take him 6 months to complete..so all ur good wishes will be appreciated!! We will finalize the ''deal'' next week hopefully...!! Wat more can a girl ask for?? a new car, a new baby and a new house!?

Hi Divergrrl! I am only a week behind you! I''m excited to be in the 2nd trimester as well... I feel we should have had a small party or something. I thought the nausea would be gone, but nope... I still have my moments. I wish I had a doppler... we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time last week and I could have listened all day!

Curlygirl - Dont worry, you will get it done in time! I cant wait to start shopping for stuff! We are being what I call lazy and just waiting... for what, I have no clue!

I dont know what this baby will weigh... I was 10lbs and my moms 3rd C-section. Dont know how much DH weighed (6-7lbs?... he was a skinny baby), but he had a HUGE head and so did his sister! So much so they ran tests on them to make sure they were okay... thats all I''m worried about!

Diver and njc, you know what they say about all that citrus, right? Sounds like team pink to me!!!! Actually I don''t know if any of those old wives'' tales are true but I''ll tell you, the citrus thing was right for me. I''m still eating grapefruits non-stop, love the Trader Joe''s frozen lime bars and had tons of lemon drops to help my nausea! Then again, I''m carrying small, low and all in front so everyone was telling me it''s a boy but I know for sure it''s a girl since it was confirmed via amnio. It''s pretty funny to hear people''s theories, they''re all so different and everyone is sure that they are right. Can''t wait to hear what you all are having!

I love the old wives tales too! MIL chugged OJ the entire time she was pregnant with DH, so who knows! My mom drank tomato juice

with my oldest brother, not sure about me. When I do the internet sex predictors, they always say girl... we will know in about 6 weeks!

Oh, was talking with SILs sister the other week and she mentioned an interesting study about the relation of sex and war/crisis. I forget who did the study, but it found that more girls are born during a time of war or crisis than boys. Something to do with it taking more testosterone to make a girl than a boy. Thought that was an interesting spin on things!

Someone told me more boys were born during wartime to replace the lost men (what a wonderful though!) Who knows! Curly, you are right EVERYONE has an opinion. I have had three people rub my tummy which I do not like, at least not yet. I don''t have the cute belly yet, just the bloated, too many donuts one. Plus it seems so personal from people other than close friends or family. I want to scream DON''T TOUCH ME!!!

Guess it only gets worse.

Hi all
I came across this forum and thought.. cool. all the babies here are so cute.
i''m what u would call a WTTC (waiting)
since i''m a teacher, we have to plan the births of children carefully and to maximize our maternity leave to the fullest extent.
i would like to deliver baby #2 around May of 2008 so i will be TTC this AUGUST.

many of you already know me from the other threads in regards to my 1st hubby and my son. and my FI.
i have a 20 month old son and was proposed to a couple of weeks ago. we don''t have a wedding date. but we have the ring and are diamond shopping.
i think we''re going to be engaged for awhile. we''re not in a hurry to have a wedding ceremony. maybe we''ll just go to the court and thats it.
but we''ve already planned out baby #2 and names too!

anyway, i''ll keep u all posted on baby #2
hehe

mmm...Newman''s Own Limeade....

Tacori: I don''t get my belly rubbed, but I hate it when people comment on my body. My MIL asked me today if I was "fat yet". I was like...ummm...well I''ve gained 7lbs.... (I''m 16 weeks). It''s hard enough to have your body change on you (and I feel like I''ve put on 50lbs...I feel puffy all over) but to have people comment on it (and she''s not the only one---I know a few folks who have said "oh you''re getting fat now!" like its funny or something)

You NEVER comment on any woman''s weight.....EVER...at any point in her life. Why does being pregnant make you public property? It''s not like we''re sensitive or anything.
